Just thought I’d throw this observation out there. I’ve been off smokes for 5 weeks now. Occasional snuffer before stopping and there is no doubt it has helped giving up since. Concerned a little about snuff volume as it has gone up but there you are. Anyway, I’ve owned a few snuffboxes over years but lately in love with my two sharrow slidy top wooden boxes, one cherry colour, one maple I think. But the real thing us that I find these boxes so smooth an tactile, I am actually finding the boxes themselves have been an aid to stopping smokes. I love em! Am not employed my the maker but you gotta admit, these boxes are smooth and lovely
I sometimes turn m PC boxes over and over in my hand like a worry stone or a stress ball.
Great paulj, xander Way to go. LOL I’ve just now acquired a new obsessive trait, handling my snuff box like a worry stone!
I just ordered my first PC box a zebra wood snuff box, Cant wait to get it.
After I got my snuffbox I realized what I had been missing since quitting smokes. My lighter. I carried Zippos for 20 years and the loss of the “toy” to fidget with and the weight was throwing me off. Definitely made a difference for me.
I have only one true snuffbox, apart from my smash boxes, and that’s my double-compartment Collins. I found the post interesting because I too tend to use my snuffbox a bit like a worry stone. The tactile sensation is quite pleasurable to me. Just occurred to me though. . .I *do* hope people don’t think I’m playing “pocket pool” while I’m “worrying” it in my pocket.
Left ball, corner pocket. *tok*
I’m glad to see it’s not just me. I often find myself using my snuffbox as a worry stone, sometimes for hours at a time. Especially while watching movies and TV, at kids school events and on trips in the car. I’ve also gotten dirty looks from the wife a few times for moving the lid back and forth making a clicking noise and not realizing I was doing it.
A perfectly respectable fidget.
