Snuff Armageddon!!!

Alright guys and girls- the time has come! God has decided to strike down the snuff mills! The rapture has left all but one snuff company on the Earth- but God has left the one remaining up to you! So who will it be? SG? WoS? Toque? You decide! Only ONE company and no exceptions! Mine would be WoS. (probably not surprising to a few of you

as my favorite snuff (currently) is GH’s Irish D, I want to say Gawith Hoggarth … but if it is a matter of survival … i can make due with WoS #22, and since WoS has a great variety … i’d second your vote for WoS, BUT … Lime Toast, Whisky & Honey, Spanish Gem, Natural Toast and Toast & Marmalade … so great. Frack! Yeah, i will stick with Wilsons.

yes, wilsons of sharrow is the omega man!

Swedish match (Leonard Dingler). Gotta have my taxi snuffs!

Toque would be my choice.

Samuel Gawith (although I would miss grand cairo terribly)

Samuel Gawith for me too. The alpha and the omega of snuff. Black Rappee, London Brown, Scotch Black, McCombie. High Mill, the Crests…there’s enough to keep a chap happy. Perhaps they just lack a bog standard SP. Their SP High Mill is lovely stuff but atypical…(darker, orangey, moister and fluffier). I’d be interested in anyone’s take on SG florals or menthols which I haven’t tried. Not my style. Any comments anyone? Where are you Xander?

I would have to say Wilsons of Sharrow for sheer variety

WoS…can’t do without my SPs

@petersuki I’m here! I don’t care for SG’s florals. They are too candy-like for me. I’ve not had any of their menthols, except the menthol thats in some of the herbal blends like CCC or Dr. Verey’s. Those I enjoy.

I think i would have to say WoS just because they have one of just about everything. I would be lost without schmaltzlers though so that would be a tough one. I guess i would just spend the rest of my days figuring out how to make schmaltzlers.

Toque without a doubt. Although I would be sad without Tom Buck.

I can t live without WOS

I’m 67 years old and have enough stock to last me 30 years. So, come what may, I don’t care a damn. If at 97 I’m still alive, I will quit snuffing and carry on with my pipes.

I would choose Sharrow Mill (because of the choice) hoping that they would start producing Spanish Gem.

If there really was a global disaster and only one mill survived, all the snuffhouse members would meet at the Svalbard seed vault, get all the tobacco seeds, and open our own mill.

Xander, yes. I checked out your reviews of SG. Just as well I’m not a big floral man, it’s no loss for me. Not their strong point. perhaps that’s why I can happily choose them as the omega stuff -they are STRONG on the plain sorts. You can’t or won’t commit yourself on this crucial point?

Well, this topic has come up at least three times since I’ve been here, and I have chosen in the past. I read to see what newer members have to say, but usually don’t get inovolved in conversations I’ve already had. But for the record, Wilsons of Sharrow. Simply based on the fact that they produce (along with their contract brands) more of my ā€œkeeperā€ snuffs than any other company. So I make my decision totally by quantitative analysis, not on favoritism.

Well, am I allowed to found my own company? If so, I’ll choose my company, buy the recipes off the other mills and hire their employees. Problem solved.

Also, WoS’s mills are (are they still?) water powered, so a global disaster wouldn’t render them powerless.
