Does anyone else try and pair some snuff with a nice cigar? Just had a nice nightcap consisting of a 5 Vegas Series A Gordo along with several bumps of Toque Natural Toast. Very nice combination!
I’ve thought about it but in the end I always think it would be better to keep them separate, I want to be able to smell the cigar without any snuff interfering.
I’ve given it a go several times but in the end I usually end up feeling how R25 does. Pipe smoking works a bit better with snuff but cigars and snuff tend to contradict one another and both compete for sensory attention.
When I’m going out with friends, this combination happens a lot, as long as shortfiller-cigars count too.
I certainly see where you guys are coming from. Myself I try to pick a combo that will more than likely compliment each other rather than compete with each other. It’s not an exact science to be sure but when you hit on a combo that works I feel like it makes the snuff experience and the cigar experience all that much better. Take the 5 Vegas and Toque toast example for instance… The cigar has many notes of spice and pepper while the snuff has mostly leathery buttery toasty goodness. Put them together and what an experience. Certainly short fillers count. I smoke quite a bit of them myself. As much as I love them I cant always afford to spend $5 or better for a hand rolled stick. Im a big Zig Zag guy personally. Flavoreds and straights I think they make the best of the mass marketed, machine made, convenience store type cigars available.
For me, a large part of the enjoyment of a good cigar is olfactory in nature. That said whilst smoking a GOOD cigar, using snuff at the same time would be counterproductive. However, should I be smoking a BAD (in my opinion) cigar, snuff could help improve the otherwise not as pleasant experience. Since I very rarely smoke bad cigars… well…
Punch London Club Maduro with Wilsons Cinnamon
I quit smoking cigs a few years ago but went onto small cigars which I smoked regularly for a few years usually a small tin of 10 a day. Now I’m discovering some great tobacco e juices some of which have cigar flavours and while having a rummage through my snuff pile I came again upon Braniff Carribean and I liked it a lot more second time around as it seems to compliment the more refined “premium”, ejuices I am currently using. The Braniff is still quite strongly flavoured (apparently Cuban Tobacco which it could well be as it certainly seems to be of quality as far as cigar flavour) for me so I tried blending with my tub of Sea Breezes and yippeeiyeah, that’s good. Like a Carribean Breeze, maybe? or savoury cigar.
Lfd double ligero and fubar grunt, match made In heaven! A pairing of an excellent cigar with a decent snuff and it works!!
