Snuff after getting your wisdom tooth yanked.

TBH for the last month or two my snuff intake has gone from a few grams a day to next to nothing, I think it’s just the weather playing with my nose so I’ve stuck to my pipe and snus. But a few days ago I had the other half of my wisdom tooth that I yanked out removed (Tip of the day, no matter how much you hate them it’s always less painful to go to a dentist to do extractions, don’t use some pliers and a bottle of whisky) Now after she said no smoking but she never mentioned other forms of tobacco, and tbh I am not going to ask as she is as anti tobacco as my last doctor. So does anyone have any experience with snuffing after having a tooth yanked and did it have any adverse effects.

Yeah just don’t do any suctioning or sucking type motions with your mouth and you’ll be fine I’d say.

Horus92 is quite right. To elaborate, the reason they tell you not to smoke has nothing to do with the effects of nicotine, per se. The reason is that the act of sucking smoke into your mouth/lungs has the potential to rupture the sutures they put in after extracting your wisdom teeth. This could result in a dry socket, which can be quite painful. For what its worth though, I still smoked back when I had my wisdom teeth out, and had a cigarette on the ride home from the oral surgeon’s, with no ill effects. That probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do, but as long as you are careful not to pull your stitches, you should be fine.

Yes, I snuffed as normal after having a wisdom tooth pulled. Try not to blow out too hard is my advice, dry socket sounds horrible.

Yeah my friend says you can feel the clot moving and gauge how hard you can suck though I would never risk it. I think I’m going to have to have my wisdom teeth out, they just started coming in three weeks ago and it feels like they’re driving into my jaw. Holy hell though I forgot how effective acetaminophen + NSAID is for pain, it’s probably a solid 4/10 without, with both of those on board 0/10.

Yep… I had my wisdom teeth out too… just google dry socket and look at the pics. Def. want to avoid!
