I’m smoking too many cigarillos right now and although mostly enjoyable they take their toll. Have a bad throat right now and want to wake up with snuff (for the first time) tomorrow instead of smoking. Have only been having a few pinches a day but want to do it almost full time now.
The wanting is the thing. Snuff can certainly supply every bit of nic that you need. Follow the classic quit advice - take a pinch whenever you want a smoke or are thinking of smoking; after a while (differs for different people but can happen very quickly) your craving will be for snuff not smokes. My personal add on to that is to put as much ‘ritual’ on to it as you do with cigarettes, by which I mean savour the moment and stretch it out. Treating yourself to a snuff box also makes a differemce IMO, kind of makes a statement to yourself. Good luck and just try again if you fall off the wagon. There’s a lot of good threads about how people stopped so have a play with the search engine.
Not a bad new year’s resolution.
Best of luck. Many of those here have succeeded following snuffster’s advice +1 on the snuffbox.
Depending on the day, I can stave off smoking for hours taking snuff, but not always. I’ve been a heavy smoker for 40+ years and it’s hard for me to get all the nicotine my body tells me it wants. One thing that helps is using a powerful electronic cigarette between times; that does supply sufficient nicotine, just doesn’t satisfy my taste for tobacco the way snuff does. I’d rather take snuff than anything I’ve tried, and my smoking is diminishing on its own. Someday I’ll forget all about it.
Thanks all of you. Well in the morning i had a bit of a hangover so wasn’t a wise time to quit just reached for a cigarillo on waking. For me it seems i can snuff after snuff after snuff OR smoke after smoke after smoke. I find it hard alternating between the two. Pipes i can live without but i love a good cigar and i have quite a stash of them. Cheers all, maybe a snuff box would be a good idea.
I’ve taken to using a pipe once or twice a day when I really have the need to smoke. It’s a great and safer alternative to ciggies.
I might buy expensive cigars so i could only afford one a day… and snuff for the rest of the time. Sounds like the least painful option for me.
Just curious, sleepwalker…what kind of cigarillo do you smoke?
Mehari’s
I think Toque SP Extra helps me most when I feel like having a cigarette. Second would be Fubar Grunt. Take a pinch every time you feel like a cigarette.
When I decided to quit smoking cigarettes (for good this time), I found a bullet to be helpful. It provided me with a thingy to fiddle with and a quick blast from it is the closest thing to a drag off a smoke in my snuffing experience. Just my $0.02.
I have a bullet but it only dispenses a tiny amount - i think it might be for stronger things.
@ bipolarbear1968 Yes usually Mehari’s but if i go for anything a bit bigger i go for La Paz Primeros.
My body is telling me tonight is the night… just put in a nice order of Poschl snuff that i don’t own already.
Ive been smoking Marlboro Blacks, which have up to 3.2 milligrams of nic in it, but i have asthma so im making the swithc to snuff as well. I have a few really high nicotine snuffs to helo me too =D
Malboro Blacks, jeez - they don’t sound too nice. Good luck mate.
Marlboro Blacks got me off smoking cigarettes for ever! I coughed like a cowboy and spit like snake while I was smoking them. Then switched to Reds but it was to late, I’ve had my chips. Thank goodness for Marlboro Blacks!!!
I have smoked between 1-4 packs a day of Marlboro Reds for the last 14 years and i also am looking to finally quit smoking. I find snuff does do a good job at taking care of my nicotine cravings but sometimes i do need to have a dip of Grizzly or Copenhagen,i also like snus when i have a supply of it. I have a pretty large pipe collection and greatly enjoy smoking a pipe at night but that doesn’t really do anything for the nicotine cravings. I have found Rooster snuff is the best for me for the nicotine cravings.
Isn’t Grizzly still safer than smoking?
