I’ve been researching different non tobacco, smokeless tobacco products these days and passed by the Smokey Mountain Snuff. There is nothing posted about this product here at snuff house, has anyone tried it?
I used “mint snuff” pouches to help me quit smoking. I believe they’re the same concept. They where a big help to me, combined with nasal snuff. I was actually googleing mint snuff when I came upon nasal snuff by accident.
I took a look at both mint snuffs and smokey montain snuff as well as a few others but wanted a few reviews about the products besides the general promotional info and videos. Are they similar to Olivers Twist as taste? I could not accommodate with any of the Olivers Twist products making me believe these first mentioned would be the same. As for snus and american dip I am very disappointed to realize my body cannot tolerate them. They are simply too strong for me. Thanks miamimark looking for more opinions on Smokey Mountain Snuff, mint snuff or any other smokeless tobacco products with least nicotine and least strength .
I know mint snuff has absolutely no tobacco and I assume no nicotine. I think the idea is to satisfy the “oral” part of the cravings. It taste like mint, nothing else. Even the cinnamon flavor taste more like mint to me. It’s kinda like a breath mint that lasts a long time. I think people that are trying to get off dip would really be helped with this product. I don’t think I coulda given up cigs without both, nasal snuff and mint snuff.
Smokey Mountain snuff has 2 flavors that are similar to tobacco: Classic and Straight. I have not tried them, but I think I will. The website says that the flavors are not identical to tobacco, but are very close.
Andrei, Try the General Mini Mint snus. They are tobacco and mint and light on the nicotine, but they do have some.
I’ve tried it before. As I remember, it has the texture of tobacco, but not being tobacco, I had no use for it, (besides quitting dip, I guess, which I still haven’t) Pulling some wild mint from the yard would probably have the same feel but free.
They make a lot of flavors I used the Arctic Mint (Pouch) and Wintergreen (Pouch) and found them to be very close to tobacco in that they have a burn like tobacco and a strong flavor. I recommend ordering samples from them at http://www.smokeysnuff.com/samples.cfm? it’s even cheaper than you can get it at Walmart. I also tried the mint snuff wintergreen pouches I didn’t mind them but they were way smaller and the flavor didn’t last as long as the Rocky Mountain. Not to sound like a broken record but i would suggest ordering samples from their website http://www.mintsnuff.com/ also and you can’t beat their sample prices. I also want to point out I am in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned.
I’ve never seen much of a use for the Tobacco free dips, other than combining them with their Nicotine infused cousins so that you could gradually lower the dose and quit the habit. I’ve noticed a lot of Skoal flavours and a raft of really cheap dips have so many artificial ingredients that you barely notice the Tobacco anyway. (Citrus Blend anyone?) If anyone made something without Nicotine that tasted like regular Copenhagen, I’d give it a shot, but my dip usage is still all about vitamin ‘N’. Patches didn’t work…Gum didn’t work…Lozenges…
@Mr_Snuffy: Supposedly there is a blend of this Smoky Mountain that is similar to the natual Cope. I think it’s the Classic blend. I’ll buy a can tonight and report back.
@cstokes4 Sounds interesting. It’s kind of like the idea of Alcohol-free booze for me, though. Not sure if I like Gin for the flavour or the effects.
I find the ideas interesting, and curious if they can match the taste and feel. Same with non-bac snuffs, curious how good they might be for just the experience of them. I do like Dholakia Herbal.
@Mr_Snuffy: I’m with ya man. I am interested in it so that I can get off the dip. If I can have the flavor without the freebase nicotine, I think I could finally kick it. @Tom: Yeah, I wish there was more non-sucrose snuff. The heavy menthol sugar snuffs are pretty bland. The Dholakia Herbal is okay to me. There is something in there that I don’t care for, some odd aftertaste. I do like Molens Potpourri, it’s very good.
I see how they could help one wean off of dip if you where using snuff too. When I first started snuffing a lot of times I’d play smoke my pipes and for some reason that seemed to make it a lot easier when the snuff didn’t seem to be cutting the mustard. Didn’t really think about it too much but this stuff may work out the same way of lessening the habitual part of the addiction.
Trying some “straight” from the factory right now. Fairly impressed as they are samples. Trying to substitute for real dip. May try grinding some for snuff after drying and post comments and a new discussion for folks here. Back to the Toque toast and marmalade for a night cap now…
@nicmizer they make that stuff out of corn silk and sugar. I used it to come off dip (gradually mixing it), but i wouldnt put that stuff in my nose. Talk about sticky mess! And the corn silk fibers would pose a pretty good risk of making it all the way to the lungs, as there is naturally no moisture or oils to it aside from the syrups they add… sounds like a bad idea is all.
