Just been looking at ebay UK and found a parcel of collectables. The interesting thing to me is the small glass bottle of Smith’s of Charring Cross Road Snuff.
The label says Cardinal Snuff but looking at my list there are six Cardinal snuffs by Smith’s, the first word is out of shot.
The ebay item number is 162314385645 11 days left until the auction ends.
The bottle is quite full .
May be of interest to a collector here.
Cheers All.
I had that exact same snuff, in Scotland, purchased at Rattray’s Tobacco Shop in Perth. It was a long, long time ago, but I still remember how nice it was. I’ll have to check it. Thanks for the tip.
I saw it. It’s been opened, and probably would be pretty scentless. But still, thanks for the tip. In fact, once I bought a bunch of snuff from eBAy UK, JH Wilsons SP, tiny little tins that were all rusted to shit. Not to say all old snuffs are bad. I regularly look on eBay US for interesting snuffs, and find some pretty good ones. Though, it must be said, a lot of the sellers want way too much! Like $25 for a tin old Rooster. But on the other hand, I once found a one pound, unopened can of Gallagher’s Irish Toast, still with tape around the edge, dated 1943. It was in Australia, and no one bid on it at all. I got for $28, plus about 15 for shipping. When I got it, it was still wrapped in white paper from the factory, and though it had lost its "toasty"scent, it still was pretty nice. In fact, I still have it, and still like it, but not as much as fresh tin of Wilsons or Gawith.
