Sir Walter Scott's Creme de Figue

I ordered some of this comparatively expensive snuff & am looking forward to its arrival. For those who have tried it already, what do you think of it? It sounds a bit like F&T’s Old Paris.

@Mike B. I have never tried Old Paris but many years ago I did enjoy the original Dr J R Justice that I purchased in their Haymarket shop so I do have experience of original F&T snuff. It was a great snuff - and maybe my memory of it has dimmed - but I have to say that Creme de Figue is in a different league. Creme de Figue stands head and shoulders above any other snuff that I have tried. For me it has the perfect grind and level of moisture. The flavours are simply superb although I don’t really have the experience to describe them. It is rich and gorgeous and has a pretty hefty nicotine kick. I am afraid that I simply cannot adequately describe this snuff but I am sure that you will thoroughly enjoy it.

Would like to try this, but I avoid liquor-ish snuffs (an issue I had with the first Abraxus) so will have to pass on it. I’ll be interested to hear what folks say about it, however.

Have this in my cart on Mr snuff but can’t bring myself to spend that much on 15g just now. Shame, sounds fantastic.

It is quite good! It is similar to abraxas fin in scent but without the liquor scenting. Ever so Slightly bigger grind than the fin and the moisture is perfect. If you like the abracadabra fin this is worth trying as well. I just opened it yesterday so I will give a better review once I give it a better trial.

It’s as close as you can get to one of the old F andT snuffs, IMO. The WoS reproductions are good but have never seemed to me to be really like the F and T originals. This snuff is not identical to Old Paris but it is very, very near to the style of the old snuffs. That is only of interest to people old enough to have used Fribourg’s I suppose, but anyone who loves coarse, rich snuffs should get something from this.

Just had my first snuff of this and let me say that I echo all of the sentiments above. It is wonderful stuff!!

@distaind In the politest possible fashion I must take issue with you. [-X You said “It is quite good!” Either your tastes are massively different from mine or that comment is one of the greatest understatements of all time. I was lucky enough / old enough to have bought snuff from the F&T shop in the Haymarket many, many moons ago. To me it was the best snuff possible until I tried the Creme de Figue. It may be my memory going but I believe the Figue is superior. It may just be that the aroma / taste of the Figue is more to my tastes but there is a richness to the Figue that for me exceeds the old F&Ts. You clearly have the experience of having tried the Abraxas snuff and - from what I have read - I suspect that is in the same league. But I have not tried it yet and am hanging on waiting for the new batch of Premium original rather than the Fin. I am hoping that I will be having a very happy Christmas by having another jar of the Figue, and jars of Abraxas Premium original, Cerise and the new Coffee snuff. Then I will be able to compare them at my leisure and will report back. In the meantime I can only totally agree with the comment from @Abraxas - “anyone who loves coarse, rich snuffs should get something from this.”

My order came last week, and I absolutely love this snuff. The scent was very familiar, but it took me a long time to place it. To me, it smells exactly like Red Man Plug. Wonderful!
