Having just received my order from Mr. Snuff I dug right into the Hedges L260, which has become a favorite of mine; then after a while I got into my McChrystal’s, is it just me or are they very similar? Not the same mind you, Hedges has a very enjoyable medicated (vapors effect) where McChrystal’s is more nuanced in that department, but they share (in my opinion) some similar base characteristics. If nothing else I now know I have found that they are close enough to serve as a replacement for the other if one isn’t available…always a good thing.

IMO all English medicated snuffs are pretty similar but they’re different enough that I have a strong preference for Hedges. To my nose McChrystal’s has somewhat less menthol and some citrus stuff that comes out sometimes after the menthol has faded. Most importantly it doesn’t have much tobacco to it (again just my nose). Hedge’s has this really nice rich, sweet and biscuity tobacco smell to it that jumps out of the tin (at least as far as medicated snuffs go).

I agree with the notes about McChrystal’s and that the Hedges is my preferred snuff.
