A while back I bought F&T Bordeaux and loved it, so in my next order I bought some Morlaix. Having read that JR Justice is a 50/50 of the two I figured I would make a smash box full of it. I really like it when I’m in the mood for a strong floral but my question is, is the packaged version of JR Justice better than the homemade version? Do you ever notice anything different in the smells of a homemade version to a purchased version?
Better? I think it’s worse personaly. Well I think it smells better then the mix however the wilson version (versus the home mix) gives me really bad allergies sneezing closing up itch eyes. I think the only diffrence maybe the marrying of the two and possible storage method blending the scents diffrently. Why do I think that because although I could tell the diffrence between the two I really couldn’t say what it was that was diffrent.
I got 50g of it a few weeks ago. I’ve never tried the home made variety but I think this is one elegant, delicious snuff. Pure class.
It’s all a matter of taste, but having an extensive supply of Morlaix, Bordeaux and J.R. Justice, I would buy more Bordeaux personally. My two least favorite F&T scents are French Carotte and Morlaix; each smells to me like granny perfumes. The addition of Morlaix to Bordeaux is like aging Ava Gardner by about 30 years, and as attractive as she was in her maturity, wouldn’t you rather have known her when she was in “Showboat?” That “Dr. J.R. Justice” guy was just a minor actor anyway; if he had any taste, he would have ordered a mix of Santo Domingo with Princes Special. Bordeaux and Macouba rule amongst the perfumed F&T snuffs in my opinion, and the darker, earthier ones like Santo Domingo, Old Paris, Princes, and Princes Special are, in my opinion, even more beguiling. It took me awhile to get over my anti DIY phobia and start mixing my own snuffs, and some of them have turned out spectacularly (like Toque Vanilla and Menthol). But in my opinion, Morlaix detracts from the special character of Bordeaux rather than enhancing it.
Morlaix is the best F&T!
I think you want to get the tin with the label on it. Period.
