My latest order has arrived about one week ago. Since I was looking for an alternative to my beloved “Gekachelter Virginie” with more nicotine I chose a 500g tub of Viking Brown, together with two 20g tins of HDT and a 20g tin of Old Paris.
I thought, the Viking would be a plain snuff like the Virginie. But WTF? There is Mint in it!!! I hate Mint! And the description on the WoS-homepage doesn’t say anything about Mint. This is terrible…
Who made a similar experience?
Others have complained of a mint or spearmint flavour in the bulk tubs of Viking Brown and Viking Dark. I suspect it is from cross contaminated either in the factory or the warehouse where it is stored, they kept it too close to a mint snuff and it soaked up some of the flavour. I have had this happen to me with bulk bags of Toque snuff, never order plain and flavoured bulk bags from Toque in the same order or your plain snuffs will get contaminated by the flavoured ones
I’ve not tried Viking Brown, but I do have fairly fresh tubs of Dark and Thor’s Hammer and they are both just what I’d expect, dark, fermented tobacco. I did find the TH a bit tamer than the Dark, so have been mixing them.
Thankfully my 100g tub of Viking Dark Rappee has no such thing, sorry to hear that…
