G’day there, I was wondering if anyone here could offer their thoughts on my current predicament. I live in Sydney, Australia and I’ve put through three Snuff orders - two to Toque and one to Mr. Snuff. So far, the first Toque arrived in 10 days and the second made it in a week. But there’s no sign of the Mr. Snuff, which I ordered close to a month ago. Does anyone have any thoughts? The Mr. Snuff order contained Abraxas so I really don’t want to lose it. Cheers DV
It could have been seized by customs. One of my Ozzy customers put through a lot of large orders at the same time and this lit him up on the radar. After that he had to use a PO Box for a couple of months, then he went back to ordering 6 25g tins every 6 weeks.
Customs would’ve sent me a notification. And they let through your 10 tins, which I’ve just been sampling.
I don’t know how it works in Australia but I know in Canada and the US if customs seizes your package you won’t receive any notification whatsoever. The only time you will receive any notification is if what they seized is highly illegal in which case your notification will be the police arresting you.
When I purchased a custom Zippo from the US, Danish customs held it for 2 weeks before I got a notice that they’d seized it. Nevermind the fact that it was labeled below 20USD and thus should’ve passed through without any delay. Sometimes customs are just a bunch of w*nks…
@n9inchnails: Perhaps that’s true for Canada, but it’s completely wrong for the US. If customs seizes an item that they believe taxes should be levied on, they’ll send you a notice stating the amount of duty charges you must pay to receive your package. If they seize something potentially illegal, you get a notice in the mail saying “Customs has detected what they believe to be contraband in a package addressed to you, would you still like to receive the package?” If you accept it, and it really is contraband, you get busted for it. If it turns out it wasn’t, you get whatever you ordered. If you refuse to accept the package, they destroy it, but can’t charge you with any crimes for it. From people in Australia that I know, you’ll get a notice if customs seizes it. I’d imagine that they probably caught the shipment and are calculating whatever taxes they’re going to make you pay before they release it.
Anyone can mail you anything at any time without having to tell you. You can call it unlikely if you’d like, but that is the way things are. If it weren’t, and I had a grudge against you, all I’d have to do is mail you a bunch of crack and you’d be sent off to jail for it. As long as you don’t sign anything admitting it was yours, and refuse the package, you’re in the clear. Of course, if every few weeks you’ve got a pound of coke being seized and you keep saying you have no idea why it’s addressed to you, you can certainly expect to put under rather tight surveillance, and likely busted for something or other in the following months. Edit: Forgot, but they do have one way of tricking people. I’ve not heard any exact amount that would make one mandatory, but the US does use a process called controlled delivery. For small, personal use quantities, drugs seized and customs sends you the form I’ve described above. If they decide to do a controlled delivery however, you’ll under surveillance for a while, and a cop will attempt to deliver the package disguised as a USPS employee. If you sign for the package, you are subject to immediate arrest, and they’ll tear your house apart searching for it. This is a pretty unprofitable tangent though, and the point of my first post was just to let @MrNemo know that if things get seized, he’ll probably get a notice. That said, I don’t think Snuffhouse is really the place for this particular conversation, so I’ll be dropping it.
Thank you to everyone who’s commented thus far. According to my reading of the law, Australia will let in any tobacco products, but they may charge import duties. And they will send out notifications. What puzzles me is the particular circumstances. The order from Mr. Snuff was three small tins - and it’s the one that’s gone AWOL. I’ve had two sizeable orders come through from Toque - including bullets - with no problems. Are there any other Aussies here that can comment?
even though it’s not the place for it. I will clearify something said above. It’s never illegal in the United States to have someone else try and give you something illegal just for you to accept or ask for something illegal. @ Mr Nemo it could just be lost or waylaid. Happens a lot. All it takes is one person droping it or misplacing it.
Yes, as bob said, the trouble begins for you once you accept it or ask for it. Basically anything that signifies you taking ownership of it, or claiming it in any way is what authorities must have to arrest you for something in this situation in the US.
If they have proof that you’ve ordered it, they’d likely do a controlled delivery as I described. If they catch a small snuff order, I doubt they’d consider it worthwhile to get the warrant to check my financial records in order to prove that I had in fact ordered it. And if you’re ordering coke off the internet with a traceable form of payment, you’re doing it wrong. Even if you have a shipment of narcotics mailed to you, it depends on what it is and the quantity what they’ll do. Quite often for personal use quantities and less “severe” drugs, you’d often just get a notice letting you know they’d been seized and destroyed. I’m game if you’d like to continue this discussion, but I’ll ask that it be kept to PMs, before we get the poor OP’s thread locked.
It has arrived! Thanks be to God. Thanks for your remarks and support. I have to say - I’m still surprised that it took so much longer than the Toque. There were no customs issues either. But I do think there’s something wrong with Australia Post - it’s the second time I’ve had a snuff container damaged in transit. A note for any other Aussies - request extra packaging. Cheers.
It’s hard to really pin that sort of thing down on any particular postal service with international shipments. I always seem to get at least one tin with a dent in it, no matter who I order from.
