SG's Irish D Light

I have a question bout this snuff. I’ve had it out a tap box and 25g tin. They had such different flavors! The tin didn’t seem to be sealed well, and there was ‘no’ moisture, and a much more bbq/smokey taste. I really enjoyed what I thought was fresh snuff out the tap box, the smokeyness was more subdued, and just a ‘slight’ bit of moisture. whereas the tin snuff is like sawdust.

Sounds like a bad seal on the tin and a fresher than usual sneeze box. Both can happen, though not very often.

Yeah, well, I didn’t know what to think about the moisture in the tap box…but of course the snuff was amazing. Maybe i’ll try remoisening the tin.

That should do the job just fine.

I have a 25g tin that’s rather dusty. I just thought that was the way it was. I’ll try a little re-hydration too.

Irish D Light is a toast and toasts are supposed to be dry, hydrating a toast is sacrilege

I have quite a few toasts and some scotches but this tin of Irish D Light I have is really “dusty” by comparison. If I’m not careful some will even make it into my lungs. None of my other snuffs are that dry. Is this typical of Irish D Light?

Your tab box probably pick up moisture! those tap boxes are like a screen door on a submarine for maintaining the snuffs integrity -Useless. Toasts are intended to be dry Edit: But not as dry as american scotches

Toasts are intended to be dry, but they do contain some moisture. A toast in a tap box will give or take moisture dependent on the ambient humidity of its environment, so it is possible for them to lose moisture. The moisture at which the maker intends it should be what you get in a vacuum sealed tin. However, I’ve noticed with bulk toasts that the makers tend to err on the side of giving a bit extra moisture which would be gradually lost with repeated openings of the container.

Oohh Kaayy

Toasts are tricky to re hydrate a little too much moisture, and a pinch will give you a little scab of snuff always seems to go right to the throat. You’ll think you snuffed a bug.

@3_D…international chassis with dump body…slides off dump easy into garage, less labor intensive.

I have a tin of SG Irish D that is well sealed, and used little. But I am exploring all my toast snuff more these days. I find the Irish D to be smokier and a little more harsh than Toque or F&T HDT. It does, however have a nice, almost sweet drip that I am enjoying even as I write this comment to an old thread.
