I can’t figure this snuff out… X-Blend lurks unobtrusively at the bottom of the SG list, and the intriguing name (bit of marketing there?) gives little away beyond the seemingly obvious fact that it is a blend. However the SG website asserts that it is NOT a blend, but a single-base snuff… which they decided to call a “blend” nonetheless. Confused? If you aren’t already you soon will be… So what about the “X”? X marks the spot? Algebraic unknown X? As recommended by the X-Men? No way of telling… so, OK, it’s an unknown non-blended blend. Yellow Crest is a good candidate for the base snuff, as identified in the Mr Snuff review by Sandy. However, the distinctive flavour of YC is muted in X-Blend (as if it had been blended… but apparently not). The colour is also less yellow than YC - a medium brown. There’s a hint of a sharper scent in there (tea-tree oil, says the reviewer; could be… ) but I don’t get anything flowery, despite the reviewer’s suggestion that there’s some jasmine scent added. Jasmine? Really? No way… This certainly isn’t, by any stretch of the imagination, a perfumed snuff, and I’ve come to appreciate it just for that reason - a bit sharp and pungent but no citrus, menthol, peppermint or flowery perfumes - or at least none that I can discern. So X-Blend is kind of a Yellow Crest- based SP-type (non-)blend with (possibly) tea-tree oil, very interesting, and unlike anything else I have tried. Odd? Yes. Contradictory? Yes. Worth trying? Definitely.

Sounds very interesting. I’ve seen it for years, but never ordered it. Now I am curious. I do like YC, and I put a tonquin bean in my tin of it when it was half empty. It gave it a really scent. Will try x- Blend nest time I order from Mr. S.
