SG Menthol Brown

Just opened my first tin of this snuff. The jury is still out. It seems to be London Brown with a pinch of menthol…and that’s all. It seems to be a waste of perfectly delicious London Brown, but time will tell. Thoughts?

not a menthol fan, so I agree. Might be just the ticket for others.

@Mouse I’m not a fan anymore…in my misspent youth? Another story. I can see this being the gateway Rappee for medicated fans. I bought it for research as I try to make some menthol snuffs. So far I’m at the bottom of a very steep learning curve.

Ah Hah! So that’s how the missus got addicted to that Raspberry snuff, it was you all along…

Dang! I was hoping no one would find out. Guilty as charged :))

Since i am a moderate menthol fan and had this one before i have to say that i did quite like it. Rappee with menthol can work wonderful for me and this one does. You know SG Wild Duck ? It is rather dark and heavy as well but comes with some peppermint flavour.

Sudfrucht and hedges are my blend for the mint hit. 5:1 as a rule. Old rule tho, as I have not really used menthol snuff in about 6 years. Old age mix I smelled tonight and maybe sniff tomorrow as it smells well aged with the oils of German caricature.

I’m almost done with this 25 gram tin and have decided that although it isn’t my pinch of snuff, Menthol Brown is an interesting take on the judicious use of menthol on a good base flour. From now on I’ll take my London Brown straight and forego the menthol version.

Daniel, try SG Menthol Black if you haven’t already. It is Black Rappee with just the mildest hint of menthol. All the full, rich flavor of BR with just a hint of menthol…nothing heavy at all. I was pleasantly surprised because I was sort of expecting something stronger… I like the London Brown…but the last tin I got was mis-marked…it was Black Rappee with a LB lid! It was a nice errors though, because BR is one of my favorite snuffs.

@mrmanos I took your advice and popped open the tin of Menthol Black I got at the same time as the brown. You are correct as usual. Black Rappee is a favorite of mine, and the hint of menthol was a pleasant surprise; not overdone and the tobacco shines through very nicely. I might actually buy this again…doubtful about the brown. I think I’ll stick with London Brown, also a favorite of mine. Cheers
