This is good stuff but I am finding it difficult to keep an entire pinch in my nose. Seems 1/4 of it never makes it in. Also it seems fairly dry. Am I having a common problem or is there a problem with my snuff? I can take toasts and scotches well enough but this coarse grind is causing me problems

Same thing happens to me. Seems to happen with most coarse snuffs from what I gather, try pinching each nostril after a snort. This helps keep more in place.

Yeah I tried taking a smaller pinch in one nostril, pinching then repeating and that helps. Also standing up makes it easier for some reason too. Thanks for the tip

Throw away your tap box and use it from a vacuum tin. It should be MOIST!

I just got a vacuum tin (they are not joking around with that seal, I had to use a bottle opener!) of this in Missouri. It is not what I was expecting, but not bad at all. At first I thought maybe there was a slight bit of menthol, but I’m thinking I’m wrong and Its a citrus scent. It is moist and fairly coarse and I do find it requires a bit of adjustment when using to prevent it from falling out, lol. Certainly requires more of a sniff than toasts or whites. I hear the KB Special is very similar?

KB Original. My second favorite snuff. Should be moist. Slight citrus. Heavy tobacco taste. Let me have some now…Yes. it’s true. The tins? Open with a coin. Never a problem.

Definitely in my top 5 snuffs. Just magnificent! Must be moist to be appreciated.

@Xander I haven’t tried KB special. Is it significantly different, or just a bit more citrus and moisture?

@BigNose My impressions of KB Special was that it had the same scenting as KB Original, but probably a stronger tobacco character. Either a richer/more robust tobacco blend, or one that had cured longer. Its been awhile, and I never had all of them at the same time, so take that with a grain of salt.

As do I. You had me running to my notes. Most of my SG reviews are based on tap box versions also it seems. Someday when finance allows, I’ll need to get the full lot in vac tins and compare again. I never see SG KB Scented any more on the webshops these days though.

@Xander Just popped a tin of KB Special that i was saving until i finished the original (but impatience got the better of me). I agree with your assessment. Similar scent but the tobacco is much bolder and i think they have added some coal dust to it. While the scent is different the tobacco flavour is similar to Viking dark (which is no great suprise since they make it as well). I’d swear the nicotine level is a little higher as well and akin to Viking dark. Good, but all in all, i much prefer the original. Now just the KB plain to try which i do not have.
