I’m looking for information on the composition of SG Guarana snuff, specifically whether it is tobacco free and if not what percentage is guarana herb. Anyone know?
I have it and it is tobacco ( uses the same base tobacco as all of SG’s fruit snuffs) and has an unusual fruity flavour, I think its supposed to be Guarana flower flavour or something. As far as I can tell it doesn’t have any of the herb in it.
Review ;I expected a fruity scent when I think of Guarana, what we got here is floral scent. Can’t describe it to a single flower more of a bunch of different ones like a florist shop filled with flowers. Monster or Redbull drink in your scull. The grind is fine with lots of moisture, light brown in color, and unlike other energy snuffs, this one isn’t a heavy power sugar mixture. The effects are there I can feel the blood circulating to my brain, waken me up and keeping me alert. On the other hand with any stimulant be aware of the crash. This is not an all day snuff! more of a go to when you need a pick up like a strong cup of coffee. It is a great value and a effective tool. Easy to use even for a beginner. The scent is not real perfumed but stays with you for quite some time. And it looks like tobacco. side note; I don’t use it often not fond of the scent
thanks @n9inchnails and @basement_shaman
I wrote to Sam Gawith this morning and got an immediate and useful reply about the contents of their Guarana snuff, what a good company; if only all makers were as forthcoming! Anyway, here is the salient part: “I regret to say that Guarana snuff is not made using a natural Guarana, it is just too expensive and un-predictable in our process, so we use a synthetic flavour. Hopefully my answer will not deter you from enjoying a product which, we here in Kendal, are proud of.”
I knew there wasn’t any guarana in it, it’s just guarana “flavoured”
Huh. I didn’t care for it too much anyway. The odd flavor stayed in my nose too long and ghosted all subsequent snuffs.
Guarana fruit is a popular soda flavor in South America. You could compare it to the coffee berry fruit in some respects. The coffee berry fruit pulp is being touted as a potent antioxidant. The guarana seed is where most of the stimulant is. The seed powder (easily purchased) has a pleasant nutty scent and can be mixed with your favorite snuff for a coffee like lift. Coffee bean can also be used in this manner, though I personally prefer guarana. Another interesting stimulant among others that awaits experimentation as snuff is the areca nut.
Mine doesn’t smell even remotely of coffee. Perhaps they used a different part of the plant?
Yes, the seed and the fruit are two distinct things in guarana and coffee. Also notably chocolate and nutmeg have distinct fruit and seed uses.
I love that Guarana soda. Can’t find it around here. My old Portuguese teacher introduced me to it. She called it “fuzzy apple.”
