I am having a smoke of Sam Gawiths navy flake and am remembering how much I enjoy this particular.flake. I haven’t tried the Balkan and am curious how the two compare. I enjoy English and Balkan blends in general.
I like navy flake but the balkan flake have more flavor and body. The braken flake is just a little less in flavor under balkan. Still they are all great smokes as flakes over ribbon cut offering with the same attributes. With slower and cooler burning quality’s. Flakes are great for a long relaxing smoke.
Cool I’ll make a note to pick some up
Dunhill nightcap in a no name briar. The name is actually Dartmouth but that means nothing to me:)

I was searching for more SG to cellar. And I see they have full Virginia Plug and St. James Plug now. But the only place I found any, was a web site in Switzerland. And it is priced why too high at $55 for 250 grams. Has any one seen these I have to have some!!!
haven’t heard of those, but if you find any please let me know! Meanwhile have you tried GLPease’ Triple Play?
no just jack knife.
Jackknife and Triple Play are very similar, and very good. For English Flakes SG Best Brown is right up my alley, er, mews. Plain, medium nic hit, nice brown sugar sweetness.
@basement_shaman Pipesand cigars has some FVF and such this week. http://pipesandcigars.com/sagabuto.html
@Juxtaposer Thanks I was looking for the plug version ,I have pounds of flake
I have never heard of an FV plug, I’d be surprised if it wasn’t Kendal Plug some site labelled incorrectly
I have a large chunk of Full Virginia Plug, and plug versions of several others. All very nice and they keep really well.
Oh, that looks delicious, ermtony. I’m a tad envious. Plugs are difficult to get here in the USA.
Delicious is right! Even more so for the Cannon Plug and the RB Plug. I swear they should class as food…
well I’m glad it wasn’t a bet. Is Kendal Plug that thick? That looks exactly like unsliced FVF.
Even when SG plugs were available here in the US, RB wasn’t. A gifted sample kindled a longing long unfulfilled. I’ll live, but I wish someone would import RB, or that SG had the capacity to meet demand. I can understand, though, the desire to remain a small, dedicated, business in a voracious world.
@ermtony Now I want it even more ,Maybe I will get the $100 lb + shipping for a present for me.Heck we only go around this marble once

some of us don’t get that far.
SG RB Plug used to be available in U.S. I have to better part of a pound of it cellared away that I only dig into on special occasions. I too have thought about shelling out the money to buy the FVP from synjeco’s and getting another pound of RB but haven’t brought myself to do it just yet. The RB Plug, btw, is sublime. Similar to Cannon Plug but more heavily scented and with more of a floral rather than fruity note, almost like patchouli. When I smoke it I am either praised or derided.
