SG and tranter

Well I’m already half through my last order and am starting to think about my next order. I’ve tried the wilsons sps and I’m thinking about trying some from Samuel gawith and Frederick tranter. Ive only tried the KB and wild duck and would like some input on some of their fruit flavors or finer snuffs. Are their sp’s good? I know that the SP2 from wilsons is not for me but am also thinking of purchasing some more small wilsons tins as well.

Samuel Gawith SP’s are coarser than most but quite nice.  I love the aroma and burn of SG Blue Crest and Red Crest is one of favorite plain tobacco flavors.  Of the SG SP’s I’ve only had the Blue Crest & Red Crest so far but they are nothing like Wilson’s SP’s; in the main they are unflavored plain snuffs with a medium (for SG) grind.

SG Apple is a nice moist fine snuff with a fresh smell of Granny Smith apples.  Definitely recommended.

Frederic Tranter makes wonderful SP’s in the Wilson’s Style.  Cotswold is my go to SP. Complex and spicy with a very smooth medium fine grind.  I can wholeheartedly recommend Tranter if SP’s are part of your rotation.

Mrnose do you prefer the wilsons SP or the Samuel gawith? I’ll definitkey give the tranter SPs a try, thanks.

SG SP No. 1 HM is my favorite SP (unless we are counting Grand Cairo), and definitely worth a try.  It is a medium grind and fairly moist when fresh.  Very easy to take.

@Sly3904:  I like them both for different reasons and I use them both on different occasions.  I wouldn’t consider them interchangeable but both good in their own right.
