Set Toque Apart

G

Just wondering, as I posted in the Honey suckle thread, what snuffs that do not exsist that roderick could masterfully make to set Toque apart from others. Toque has excellent snuffs but I would like to see some that no other company makes. Honeysuckle is one. You guys think of any others?

G

Dont get me wrong, Toque already sets itself apart IMO in freshness and customer service, im just using them as an example because its the snuff I use the most.

T

Tea. I think a ceylon or assam scented snuff would be quite nice.

C

Mmmm tea. A nice Constant Comment, or Earl Grey… How about hazelnut?

S

Hey! ya’ll shut up and don’t bother Roderick until he is finished making my plain dry toast. And Please! Maple, Hazelnut, and Honey suckle? Sounds like coffee and a pancake breakfast with a cheep slut. Actually, the Honey Suckle sounds really nice.

S

I would like to see a jalapeno, habanero, or chipolte snuff. That would be perfect for out here in the southwest. If that’s a little harsh though, I can think of a few other desert varieties that would be nice: Blue Agave (or Tequila), or prickly pear fruit. And I can’t remember but has anyone made a blackberry, boysenberry or cranberry snuff?

X

I think Paul Gotard has Blackberry.

T

WoS makes a rum and blackberry

B

Beer. A Real clear flavor. Like maybe Guiness Snuff and a Corona with lime… And other cocktails like a rum and coke and etc.

C

snuffegnugen, how about tres leche cake for a southwestern dessert snuff?

S

Maybe I’m being corny, but Toque being Toque is, for me, what sets it apart from everybody else. Whatever Roderick is doing, he’s doing it right.

X

For beer, there was some talk of a Toque Porter in past threads. Perhaps it will happen someday. In the mean time, I suggest Snuff Store’s Blender’s Bundle, an outstanding snuff. Also Hopfen, if you like hoppy ales. I should have thought of WoS Rum & Blackberry first. Thanks tybalt. Its a fine snuff. As for tea, well, as a lover of tea I’d think that tea is far to subtle a flavor to carry over into snuff. If you like Earl Grey tea, it stands to reason you will like SP style snuffs, particularly the milder ones. Try Toque Original for starters. Its a fine SP. Those other tea flavors surely have an equivalant snuff someplace. I forget what Constant Comment tastes like. Some sort of spice, I think. Looking back, Roderick is usually one step ahead of us, and threads like these pop up from time to time. He hears our suggestions, but he has standards. For some reason, these discussions usually degenerate into talks about bacon. So to get ahead of that, and being from Delaware, I will suggest our local answer to breakfast meat: Scrapple

C

Xander, I love the Toque Original. So far, it’s my favorite, by a slim margin. So far, I’ve loved all the Toques I’ve tried. Constant Comment kind of has a clove/spice/citrus thing going on.

G

I agree Roderick is steps ahead of the market as is. I stated so in my second comment on here, response no. 2 As i said i was using Toque as an example because its my most used snuff and usually stays ahead of the curve anyways. But I have also seen roderick mention they are calling it quits at 40 flavors but I wouldnt want to see the 40 flavors end up being examples or reincarnations of older blends, I want to see some out of the box snuffs and even a 4 seasons snuff. Snuffs only available durinf winter, spring, summer and fall to reflect the seasons. This is just s brainstorming thread, not knocking rodericks product.

X

hmmm. try Dholakia Kamal, Manjul and Ganga. They’re all wonderfully spicy, though they might be more floral than you’re looking for. Also I was just introduced to McChrystal’s Clove, which I know now I can’t live without. I think there are some old Constant Comment bags (shudder) in the tea cubboard. I’ll break one open soon and see if I can duplicate it in a snuff mix.

G

Roderick i really wish i could send you some fresh honeysuckle to see what magic you could work for a summer time snuff, its amazing. But i know you have some tricks up your sleeve uve yet unleashed upon us, i just love your company and would like to see some original… only toque has it/ a unique flavor never made before.

X

I agree, Grim. If its a unique sort of thing that only Toque can do, like Grapfruit, then they should make it. If they can make the best cola snuff in the known universe, by all means do it. But I just mentioned McC clove. I don’t think that can be bettered for a clove snuff, so maybe not worth the time to experiment. Conversely, I have in my collection a Maccoboy, a Macouba, and a Macuba. All variations on a theme, but all different enough to make me love each one. Just thinking out loud. Of course I’d evaluate any new Toque snuff impartially. There are none that are bad and many are top of their class.

T

Bacon. Just kidding! ;D

A

Well, its been said many times that WoS IHT22 smells like bacon, cant say Ive experienced it myself…

P

Well, as I do have a nice batch of Magaliesberg Horseshoe snuff now, I’m considering whether I should flavour a little bit with real bacon. Only way I will know whether it can be done is to give it a try. Might do it this coming weekend.

T

Would that make it non-Halal?

P

@tom, I guess so, yes.

A

Guess so! Its interesting the way some snuff gets a flavour that was never intended - Grunt smelling like Coconut being a prime example; don’t think its ever been anywhere a coconut. Personally, I can’t think of anyhting worse that meat flavoured snuff.

B

Toque will of course continue to bring us great new snuffs, personally i would like to see an Elderflower Toque and a Cheese Toque but what about the snuffs that Toque does not make that are popular like why no Toque Apricot i would love to buy some of that.

X

If they can best Wilson’s Apricot, then I’d say go for it. I think Wilson’s has the best Apricot (of those that I’ve tried).

B

As you all know when you have 40 flavors the top 8 or so most likely do 80% of the business. So Roderick can start to phase out the bottom flavors and replace them with new ones. That is Retail/Wholesale 101. I started the Beer thread a few weeks ago. I like Blenders Bundle and have 50 - 60g of it, also a tin of Mc Hopps, but there is clearly room for a clean beer taste.

S

@Asherael Apologies mate. No offence was intended. I was just joking around about how very excited I am about the Toque plain toast that is reportedly on the way. Nothing more.

S

Set Toque apart with one tin to rule them all, open it up and it’s Original one pinch and then it’s Champange the next, then Toffee. “Morpho snuff” in a user-preference-intuitive tin.

X

I just wear a mood ring, I look at the color to see what I’m supposed to snuff.

H

How about that classic, creamy, nutty, smooth, plain High Dry Toast?

A

Roderick did say some time ago that he may develop a plain HDT. I would love to see that amd maybe also a lightly mentholated toast alomg the lines of the old Gallahers ‘wit and wisdom’

C

Or Ananas! A good Pineapple snuff would be great!

B

Butterscotch…oh and also BACON!!!

H

I find that luridly flavoured snuffs sit less and less well with me these days. F&T HDT, on the other hand, seems like ambrosia…If Toque could come up with something ‘similar’ to that, then I’d surely give them some of my money (some more of my money!).

M

To me, Toque bourbon is similar to HDT.

T

Mmm - butterscotch!

T

Does Toque have a perfumed type? I think a nice prefumed with maybe a slight coolness to it would be good.

A

I did one of my weird fickle things with the bourbon; absolutely loved and then hated it within the space of a week. I would like to see some experimentation around the base tobaccos, maybe a courser one like a KB? Stuck on the toast and marmalade at the moment, delicous.

C

Schmalzler

H

_Toque bourbon is similar to HDT_Dear God, no, it certainly isn’t to me! It’s similar in that it’s a snuff, but that’s about it!

H

I would very much enjoy a strong black tea flavor.

S

Honeysuckle - no other snuff company makes it and I can’t figure out why. Lovely aroma - not TOO floral, just the smell of summer!

S

A lychee or rambutan flavoured snuff. Both are delicious fruits, although anyone who doesn’t have access to a large Asian community (think NYC Chinatown) will definitely have a hard time getting fresh ones. If one of those came out, I think I’d buy a kilo to start with. Lychee is possibly my favourite fruit ever. Only competition is mangosteen.

B

I’m with cstokes4! Schmalzer. Preferably Quit scented.

A

However, because he only uses natural flavourings, the resulting snuffs can be quite delicate. More than one person - myself included - has observed his grapefruit snuff turn back into Toque natural during the lifetime of the tin!

C

Patchouli could be interesting…

T

Nag Champa.

C

Oooo thumbs up on the Nag Champa! I’m burning some right now!

T

Super Hit is a great inscense too.

S

Carol check out F & T Santo Domingo. It smells just like Patchouli

P

Toque’s plain HDT will be available soon. In the mean time F&T HDT is what I pinch every day. I’m sure I will survive on it for a year.

B

sai flora thats the main incense here

H

Toque’s plain HDT will be available soon. Very good news. After a week of straight HDT use I’ve been snorting from a fresh 50g of Quit today and relishing that just-cooked alkaline freshness. The Quit has more of a bass-note boom over against the fluting treble of the F&T - but they compliment each other rather well…

S

cstokes4: good call. I’ll be up for the 400 whopping gram-er.

B

that is a horrible idea midnightmosesuk it may even be illegal in some parts. It’s a very indian incense often peoples first forray into real inscense (like not fruit or car fresh scents). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incense\\_of\\_India Chadan dhoop is probably my favorite incense. Right up there with tibetian rope incense (used to wear that stuff in my hair).

B

just watching out for any contingency.

T

Did anyone say they’d like to see a Toque Schmaltzer? Because so would I.

C

The Chocolate is much darker. The SG is a light brown while the Chocolate is a medium-dark brown.

C

Toque will always be set apart for me. Toque has some of the best customer service I’ve ever experienced with a company. It’s not every day when the company owner/founder personally answers a customer’s questions without the benefit of a form letter. The fact that their products are pure awesomeness is just icing on the cake!

B

I agree with Carol. Roderick backs up his really great snuff with really great service. That is impressive for any business. Well, back to snuffing…
