Just out of purely idle curiosity, has anyone inquired as to what kind of snuff they use to fill the U.S. Senate snuff boxes? I seem to recall that the House of Lords snuff box is filled with GH’s English Rose.
Last I heard the Senate snuff boxes have been empty for years (decades?) Also in the UK its the House of Commons not Lords. Also GH English Rose was only there by coincidence when someone inquired. Its been repeated often enough around here that people believed it was always the case. However, there is another thread somewhere around here in which showed a letter from a concerned citizen who wanted to know how much the snuff was costing the taxpayer. The response showed something to the effect of buying a tin of snuff very infrequently, and it was for a variety of snuffs, not the same kind every time. If someone wants to dig up the thread, please post a link here.
As an aside, I love to snuff in public buildings, esp. government ones, and I usually make quite a production in so doing. I always leave a little something behind for the ghosts as well.
