I started snuffing with W.E. Garret Scotch, I have gotten to the point that it doesn’t bother me like it did. It actually is my main snuff now… I placed my first order with a bullet sampler from toque. I enjoyed the menthol, sp extra, and quit. The natural toast and bourbon were good but, i thought they lacked strength. Hated the Absinthe because i don’t like black licorice. (I also don’t like prunes, aniseed, or apricot) I am looking to branch out and thought i would ask for recommendations of other brands/varieties. I am planning on trying the entire toque line so other than that. Your time is appreciated.
You have a good idea what English snuff is like in terms of strength and grind, and if you are taking toasts and US scotch snuffs you are in the happy position of being able to get on with just about anything a snuff blender can throw at you. I would experiment with the Indian snuffs from companies like 6 Photo and Dholakia and then to pretty much round up this world tour of snuffs you could try the great German snuffs like the traditional schmalzer types.
A few recommendations:
Dholakia Manjul and Kamal - strong, fine, highly flavoured, very representative Indian snuffs
6 Photo - any of their range, including their take on Western toasted snuffs
German - Bernard, Poschl and others - wide range of snuffs, look up the reviews
English Classics - Wilson’s of Sharrow - Best SP, Tom Buck, plus the Fribourg and Treyer range
Hedges menthols, Mchrystals Original and Genuine, and JandH Wilsons Sp and Top Mill snuffs.
There are too many to name and any list will have things missing that others people would include. The best thing you can do is look up the reviews and the descriptions on the retailers sites.
i just visited snuff reviews and its like a little treasure box. Great for me since a couple sites don’t have detailed descriptions. Thanks for the info.
That reminds me, I have a bit of editing work to do over there.
If you like the strength of Scotches, try Dholakia Black and White, and any and all South African snuffs.
I kind of like Red Bull by Poschl Tabak. It says strong snuff on the box. Can’t really rule on that, but I like it and it’s strong enough for me. Unkei
I also started with Garrett and now use it with no problems radioedit. If you are looking for Vitamin N primarily I would try Fubar Grunt and Viking Dark. (Don’t believe the reviews that say Grunt has a coconut flavor or any flavor really other than straight tobacco.) Those are the two that seemed strongest to me with the Viking Dark giving the most nicotine. They are coarser than the Toques and the scotches which I don’t like but as always ymmv. For taste I would suggest Toque’s Lime Toast. Lime snuff sounded bad to me but I tried it for funsies and my personal opinion is that it is the best tasting/smelling snuff. Try whatever sounds good to you, there will be some duds but that is true of everything in life.
The Dholakia Sparrow & Sparrow Cool are also very good, with a high N content and a nice flavor…
Try Cafe Noir from Snuffstore uk, a good strong dark snuff, Fubar medic is a good hit , very mentholated.I tried Q Sandalwood and this too is very pleasant. Have fun !
Oh just had a though! WoS Vanilla Ice, Hmmm :))
The original poster hasn’t been on here since January 29th just to let everyone know. Great profile pic of his though
