Sharrow Medicated from Wilson’s. SM, SM500, SM Blue, SM Brown, SM Gold. I like the SM Blue.
decided to get on the WoS order too. I went direct from them. all small tins: Best SP Crumbs of Comfort Best Dark Lemon Grove SM Blue Lemon Toast Grand Cairo Irish ‘D’ High Toast Jasmine I got a little confused with the high dry toasts, the F&T tins seemed a little big for a newcomer, i think i’m gonna hold off until I get a clear idea what I like.
yeah man there is plenty of time to get snuff. Not saying there is any reason to not try as much as you can as fast as you can. However there is always plenty of time to try more.
@snuffmoose: Glad to see you’ve plumped for Cheese & Bacon - I adore that snuff, but it is quite polarising; a lot aof people absolutely hate it! I hope you like it.
I think you picked the wrong toast. #22 is the quintessential one. #20 is excellent, but not especially toasty.
@snuffmoose - You must have/try #20 and #22, two completely different animals, but both excellent in my book!
I didn’t see 22 on the wilson’s page, but I might have been looking in the wrong place. is 22 an F&T or WoS?
I would call it an SP style, similar to Toque Original in terms of flavour, colour, and grind. Edited to note that is not a bad snuff at all. Further edited to note that it is a WoS, not an F&T.
so the one i ordered is also called #20? or I got something completely different? something similar to Toque Original sounds good to me.
WoS offers High Dry Toast #20 and Irish “D” Toast #22. #20 is similar to Toque Natural Toast or F&T High Dry Toast. #22 not really a toast and is similar to Toque Original, or McChrystal’s S’nuff, for example. I have both and I am still confused this naming convention. I have to actually open the tins to see which is which.
OK so Irish D Toast is 22? and the one I ordered is Irish D HIGH toast which is different, correct? Does mine have a number too? this is the one I ordered http://sharrowmills-online.com/snuff/sp-varieties/sharrow-snuff-irish-d-high-toast.html which on the WoS site has no number. EDIT: just looked closely at the photo. the tin has number 20. sorry, the written description didn’t. now I get it, in any case, it’s still going to be fun to try a new snuff. thanks to all for your patience with me snuffignorance
No wrong! Sorry- Or Maybe right. ( You got it both ways actualy). Here is the deal: The Irish D.H. Toast #20 is a toasted SP, really unique and fabulous. But a SP, Citrus. I love it. I have a lot of it. The Irish Toast #22 is a true toast, and it is real close to F&T High Dry Toast, both made by Wilson’s, and both are Fabulous too. I have a lot of it. Toasted Tobacco no citrus. Clear as mud now? Go Here:http://snuffreviews.com. I read and reread them almost constantly, it is one of the best review compendiums I know of. Try the snuffs, then read the reviews, then pick a contributor that has similar tastes as yours (takes some time), then get on with it. Snuff ignorance is easily cured, it just takes more snuff. There is a whole wild world of snuff just waiting for you- partake and enjoy! We are here for you and will do our best to confuse and bewilder you, I mean help and clarify. ( actually depends on our moods, and what snuff we are jacked up on).
#20 Irish D. H. Toast (Some speculate that the D stands for “dark”; yes its more of a toasted SP) #21 Irish Toast (Generally only available in Germany for some odd reason. Very plain, and not a “high” toast) #22 Irish High Toast (This is the famous one. This is very fine and dry, and has an unforgettable toasty/nutty flavor. It is comparable to F&T HDT, and high toasts from other companies) Ok?
if you’re going to try WoS you must try Gold Label. Try some Samuel Gawith, too.
“#20 Irish D. H. Toast (Some speculate that the D stands for “dark”)” That’s what Wilsons told me it stood for.
Then they should put it on the site! I spent forever looking for the answer, after you informed me of the “Dark”, It makes sense. but I never found another reference. But at least I know now. You would think that someone from Wilsons would stop by here once in a while. It is like “here is our product, we have been making it so long that we do not care if you buy it”. Some of the sales numbers passed on by Roderick, for Sweden, were mind boggling.
@saucy jack: which Gawith’s do you suggest?
Got both packages today. Thanks for all the suggestions. I can’t wait to try all the new snuffs
I posted this in the ‘worst snuff’ thread, only becuase someone mentioned Toque Apricot.I’m reposting it here, I’d appreciate any thoughts. I love all the WoS and Toques from my last order except; the only snuff i´m not enjoying is apricot. i ordered it because of several positive reviews and suggestions. all i can say about it is: it smells like slightly soured milk. maybe i got a bad tin? I´m new at this, but judging from all the other toques, they don’t send bad product. The smell for me is like i said stale milk, in the beer world we would call this a lactic acid note. it’s really strong in my apricot. maybe it just needs to breath? I know the toques go for a natural vibe and I love the raspberry for example, but I can’t get in to the apricot. any help or suggestion would be appreciated.
