Scent gone off.

I’ve noticed that, first in a 15g jar of FireDrac and later in a 10g tap of SG’s Zip, the scent of the snuff seems to have slowly gone off. They have both developed this odd smell that reminds me of my dad’s garage when I was a kid. It’s not gasoline or anti-freeze, but a slightly sweet, almost musky smell. Maybe motor oil? When this first happened with the FireDrac (which I know can occasionally go moldy) I wasn’t sure if it was my imagination or not, but now that the SG has gone the same way (which I could clearly recall as initially a gentle floral/menthol scent) it seems that they may have spoiled somehow. So I guess my question is, has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is this a good argument for keeping the snuff in the fridge? My dragun and dragun menthol are there right now and smell as good as when I first cracked them open.

Use your snuff faster or invest in some air tight storage containers. Those SG tap boxes are the worse, The Firedrak I can’t say what went wrong there. Mold when airborne is very destruct-full. I always use a spoon when decanting snuff. I know where my fingers have been #-o

Hahaha, I actually do reside in the tobacco-growing state of Virginia, USA. I had no idea there was a connection between tobacco growing regions and ambient mold! I take it I should move the rest of my snuff into the crisper in the fridge, then? I’d been storing them in their original containers in individual zip-loc bags inside a cigar box in my desk. Thanks for the info.

Thank you, basement_shaman. I do indeed need to use my snuff faster. I’m yet to empty a tin and I’ve been using snuff for two years, now! I do take care to keep my grimy mitts out of the snuff, though.
