'Sandalwood' by Gawith Hoggarth

Now this is a really interesting scent - check out the Wikipedia entry to read a bit about its importance in certain cultures.

For me it takes me back to South-East Asia but this snuff will appeal to many and not just fans of Indian style snuffs of which i’d say this beats even some i’ve tried by bona fide Indian snuff makers.

Another essential nasal snuff purchase from Gawith Hoggarth.

Te only Sandalwood snuff I have tried is by Quit With Snuff.  To my nose, it seems like it has no other flavorings along with it.  it’s a super long-lasting scent which I really enjoyed about it.

Not tried it yet, but I understand French Carrotte from F&T has a good sandlewood aroma, I’m sure others will comment…

I have tried Wilson’s Sandalwood … I enjoyed it … but didn’t really find it compelling enough to go back to again and again.

I haven’t tried the GH Sandalwood yet, but I’ll get around to it sooner or later.

Recent batches of F&T French Carotte have been disappointing, but it was formerly an excellent perfumed snuff with a predominant sandalwood note.  Hopefully it will return to its former glory.

WoS Sandalwood is very good if you like the more woody element of the scent, as opposed to sweeter versions.  The usual Wilson’s quality is evident.  It somehow seems a bit plain, however.  I’ve got some on order to use as a mixer.

QWS is a slightly coarser grind than the others, with a bit of a barnyard scent underneath the sandalwood.  Entirely adequate, but there are better sandalwood snuffs.  On the plus side, it probably has the biggest nicotine kick of any sandalwood snuff I’ve tried.

Wow -I am reviving a zombie thread here … I received today a plastic tub tin of this snuff, sold by the purveyors of Covent Garden known as Segar and Snuff Parlour. I love it. I am having a hard time putting my finger on exactly the " when " - but this scent has a HUGE deja vu factor for me … I seem to remember something about high school … drama class … a red headed girl form Ireland … umm… stuff … but cannot explain it… I like it immensely . I use a Sandlewood shaving soap by Crabtree and Evelyn, and never have I been tempted to eat it - but I want to snuff this entire tub in one evening… I KNOW it will be top shelf when temps are a bit lower and I take it along while walking my dog on the farm in coming weeks.

In reply to @The_HP, Enjoy! Sandlewood only makes me think of incense. Can’t say I’ve ever wanted to taste it. But that’s just me.
