Samuel Gawith Elmo's Reserve

Moist and medium coarse. Tin note is a very sweet, artificial aroma which kind of reminds me of shoe polish at first, but it is not entirely unpleasant. It’s quite a different story once in the nose. First thought that crossed my mind is that it smells like cavendish pipe tobacco. I get sweetish tonquin bean notes, but it’s far more complex than that. The aroma is not too strong and doesn’t overstay its welcome. Medium nicotine content. I heard this was made for a loyal customer who lost his dog Elmo, which adds a nice touch.

Good snuff!

Yes I love this snuff. Some people really don’t. The scent isn’t too strong but I guess if it ain’t your thing…

Reminds me of the white sugar sticks in Fun Dip - not a very sophisticated statement, I know.  I immediately loved this one, but if the scent was any stronger it might be too much.  I’ve been having my cigar-connoisseur dad try snuff here and there, and so far this is his favorite.

Other SG tins have different lids.  Banana, Firedance, Cherry, Vanilla, Honey, Celtic Talisman, Apple, Christmas Pinch, KB Plain, and Raspberry to name some.  I’ve also wondered about this though.  I assumed the various lids (not standard crimson) are maybe a new thing.

The crimson lids are the new ones. All lids will be the standard crimson ones once stock of the old lids runs out.

My nose impression is like Betty Crocker chocolate cake mix. Like sniffing cake mix instead of tobacco. Same texture too. That said, it’s hard to resist. A wonderful snuff.

You guys have settled me on the next tin I’ll be opening.  Off to sterilize my “tools”!

This one didnt work out for me at all. The taste was totally not to my liking. So, it went in the trash.
A harsh thing to do but there is no use in keeping it around and not using it. That

I do like this snuff occasionally, but never put more than a couple of grams in the snuffbox at any time. By the time those couple of grams are done, I’m ready for a change, usually because my nose is getting a little irritated. A few weeks or months later and I’m ready for another couple of grams. Worth having in the rota, and I have a couple of tins, but not all day or every day material
