On the Greens of Leeds website there are ‘plain’ and ‘scented’ versions of each of the three snuffs: Blue Crest, Red Crest, and Yellow Crest. Greens of LeedsDoes anyone know if these are distinct or is it an error? The pictures show the same snuffs.
I’ve only ever had the plain versions. They are good, with (for me) the Red and Yellow being better than the Blue. I’m tempted to get both in bulk. I suspect that the Yellow Crest is what’s left in the sieve after the base snuff has been sifted for Irish D and that the Red Crest has the same relationship with No. 1 High Mill. All three are medium (or slightly coarser) in grind. Not quite sure which other the Blue Crest is related to though. Suggestions anyone?
Looking again, they do indeed have separate pictures for both plain and scented for Yellow and Red, but not for Blue.
Every Gawith SP (including No1 High Mill, Scotch and the three Crests) and the Kendal Browns are available either plain or scented. Greens of Leeds is the only online store I’m aware of that offers the choice of plain or scented.
ahh, thank you. Very good information, BradMajors!
