im getting a floral deoderant smell with this one its springy which i really dont like because it make my nose burn more than it shoule smelling it right out of the tin it sseems to be quite a foul smeel but once in the nose its pretty good its odd because when i first got the pinch in my nose it was very lightly scented the scent seems to get stronger the longer you have it in. because of grind ant moisture content and springyness ill give it a 4 ot of five i may bu it again i may not ill have this one around for a long time though. i like grinds that feel “flat” in the nose like wilsons toque and McChrystals may be worth a try if you like soapy smells
I had yet tried this one, sound like a lakeland blend. Being a cob I just assumed it would have a tonquin smell to it like elmo’s reserve, in a yellow virginian tobacco base. I have a tin of this in my snuff cellar, I will have to pop the top and smell what it has inside. I will add my review hence I sit a bit with it.
i cant stand fluffy snuff
Springiness/fluffiness and a slowly growing scent actually sound like ideal qualities in a snuff to me. I may have to give this one a go. From your description it sounds like it’s a floral scent? Is it mentholated as well?
The most fluffy snuff I had was Celtic Talisman, also by SG. Fluffiness does the trick in the eye, but to my experience it’s definitely nasty on the nose.
Everyone is different. I love the fluffiness of SG snuffs. In fact, when my tins get about 1/2 empty, I add a piece of lemon peel to re-hydrate and re-fluff! I’ve never had Cob Gold, but it sounds good. I have had the Cob Dark, coarse and moist, and the scent, the Lakeland scent I guess, is a little strange at first, but I went through a 25 gm tin in about 2 weeks, which is fast for me considering I use a bunch of different snuffs throughout the day.
I like Cob Dark, haven’t tried the Gold yet
Fluffy to me means velvety. But it’s one of SG’s florals…
i dont like it i like more flat tobaccos like WoS
@saucy_jack That’s the problem with semantics! For me, Viking Dark is “velvety”, even silky, but Celtic Talisman is “fluffy”: I LOVE the first, I can’t longer stand the second… BTW, nice to see you posting again.
@MarvinLapsus thanks pal. I’ve been recovering from a serious illness. Good to see you again.
@saucy_jack Hope you’re OK now and if so, I wish your good health to last a long time. On topic, how is the grind of Cob Gold, besides “fluffy”? Because if it’s anywhere near to VD and the like I will seriously think about including it in my next order… a soapy but delicately scented snuff surely sound appealing.
