The other day I got a free tobacco pipe from Listia.com, this site sometimes, or often depending on what it is, has items that people give away for free and you may or may not have to pay shipping. I paid $5 shipping but nothing else for a tobacco pipe that looks like a traditional wooden brown colored pipe with black stem, but it is made of a composite material with a metal bowl. The metal in the bowl may be an insert, I think it is. Anyways, has anyone used one of these or does anyone have an opinion on it. Look it up on google, “samba type tobacco pipe”. I know it won’t be as good as a real wooden pipe but I figured I would order it and try it out. By the way, the seller just told me that it is a “Samba” type pipe, he is a high rated trusted seller on the site but I asked him if it is a brand name pipe and what type it is or what it is called so I could look it up and that’s all he said.

I don’t have an opinion, But it might be good entry level pipe for a beginner, I seen them a couple years back selling for $1.Made in China
Never used one but have seen them in corner stores for a couple of bucks, the fact that they are cheaper than a corn cob makes me weary of them.
I’ve never used one, reminds me of pipes for enjoying “mother nature”. Let us know how you like it.

@Bob is spot on. Wet and hot. Briar and meerchaum are used because they absorb some of the moisture as you smoke (the meer in particular) and disipate heat evenly out (the briar in particular). If you are new to pipe smoking, dont spoil the experience by using a metal lined pipe. Go on ebay and pick up an old estate pipe for a couple of bucks and go from there. That pipe was free for a reason.

I wasn’t sure it had a metal lined bowl when I paid the shipping. Should have made sure because now that I know it does I don’t even want to use it. I will probably give it away or even throw it out. What a nice waste of money.
Don’t throw it out. Tie a bit of string around it and hang it from the rear vision mirror in your car to let the world know that your a cultured individual!
