I saw this in the Metro paper this morning on my way to work: Snuff maker to work on after £2.7m lottery win Tuesday, March 31, 2009 lottery win Toasting success:Graham and Fiona Forrest A lottery winner who scooped £2.7million has no plans to give up work, he has said. Graham Forrest said he wouldn’t know what to do with himself if he gave up his job with a company that makes snuff and tobacco. The 46-year-old started working at Samuel Gawith & Company in Kendal, Cumbria, at the age of 15 and is now the managing director. ‘I’ve worked my way up, I’ve given my life to it. There’s been some good times and bad times, so there’s no way I’ll be giving it up,’ the father of four said. His wife, Fiona, 45, will, however, be giving up her job as a cleaner and is looking forward to moving to a bigger house in the Lake District. Apart from buying a new home, Mr Forrest’s only other extravagance after matching all six numbers in last Saturday’s double roll-over will be to treat a childhood friend to a racehorse. He also plans to buy a new pair of spectacles and put money aside for his children’s education. ‘It won’t alter anything, we’ll go on as normal,’ he added. http://www.metro.co.uk/news/article.html?Snuff\_maker\_to\_work\_on\_after\_2.7m\_lottery\_win&in\_article\_id=604199&in\_page\_id=34 Congratulations, Graham! (I wonder if he’s on the forum…?)
Wow that is great news! Congratulations Forrest Family!
Good for them, that’s awesome.
sounds like someone has the money to fund the ISTA start-up. I vote for Graham!
.
This is what happens when a man loves his job. I can only hope I find a job I love so much.
Lucky b*gger!
A new pair of spectacles! What an appalling lack of imagination.
I want to win £2.7 million :~(
Don’t worry, Trout. By the time the Inland Revenue is through, he’ll have enough for a good steak dinner and that’s about it.
I figure this lucky person outta get a hold of our “Flavors you’d like to see available” Thread. I just see him swinging it somehow.
Now the Arizona Lottery pays out $10,000 if you can match 4 in the pick six game. Hope that brings in more sales, 'cause our state budget is in serious, serious trouble.
congrats to him:) and thanks for sharing toffeenose
@snuffbox Happily, the Inland Revenue boys won’t see a penny of it as there’s no income tax on British lottery wins.
Brad that is good news! How did they get that law passed?
They were probably asleep in the House…
It’s always been that way, no tax on gambling winnings. Hope he enjoys his new glasses! I think we can be pretty sure he is not going to be one of those people that blow through it in 2 years.
