S Gawith, Jasmine

Floral snuffs are not usually my first choice.   Medicated are the norm for me .

I have just purchased a tin of Jasmine  by S.Gawith and was pleasantly surprised.   Enough so that this could become one of my regulars.

This is not a review of the Jasmine,  but it is very nice.

I have only just recently been sampling Samuel Gawiths Snuffs and have got used to their standard bland labels.

This tin does not have the usual red and light blue labelling with the UK government health warning taking up half of the label, but instead has a lovely colour print of Jasmine flowers and another label stuck on the base with a separate warning label stuck on the base of the tin.

Could this be old stock.  Maybe the factory is using up the old labelling  or just been on the shelf of the tobacconist for a long time.

It is a much nicer way of labelling than the bland red and blue labels.

Old stock, new stock, new labelling, old labelling  anything else ?

What have I got?

Cheers.

I think the older stock has the red/blue labelling and they have been using more illustrative labels with newer stock. Not 100% sure on this but I recently received a tin of Kendal Brown with a newer looking label where it was the red/blue in previous orders.

I’ve never seen that type of label before on a SG snuff. I bet it’s an old one. Did you buy it at a tobacconist? Or did you order it online?

I bought this at a tobacconist  shop in a sleepy village in Staffordshire a few days ago.

Yesterday I had a look at   “My Smoking Shop” an online shop.

They also have it labelled with the photograph of Jasmine flowers.

I know it doesn’t alter the qualities of the snuff but the presentation is so much nicer and adds pleasantly to the snuff taking process.

Perhaps this is what the UK Government is trying achieve.  Down grade the packaging and  the snuff taking will not be so attractive to newcomers.  Bit of a cheek really when they offer free samples of snuff from an impressive, although impractical,  large snuff box to Members of Parliament.  That’s Politicians for you.

If S.G. have started to brighten their image with photographic prints on the tins then they get my vote of approval.

As I mentioned previously I am new to Gawiths and do not know their history of packaging.

Cheers.

I believe the reason the warning sticker is separate, is so they can vary the warning according to the country they are selling the product to. Different countries have different warning requirements
