S&G "Black Coffee and Viking "Dark" ???

Afternoon All ,  Just wondering if any one out there had the pleasure of comparing S&G “Black Coffee” and Viking “Dark”. They seemed to me they are the same and wondered if anyone knows who makes Viking snuff ? Also wondering if there is any interest and swapping or just wanting some American snuffs that I’ll never get around to. I almost exclusively use German or English snuffs now.

Happy Snuffing !!!

Snuffmaster60…

I don’t think its been officially confirmed, but SG almost certainly makes Viking.  As to the comparison between Viking Dark and Black Coffee, the color is similar, but Viking Dark (to me) tastes nothing like coffee.  Also, its been awhile since I’ve had Black Coffee, but I seem to recall it being a courser grind than Viking Dark.

Like somebody says,Viking Dark is probably a hate or a love snuff. It seem a bit common and possibly too tasteless for some snuffers, but for me ,as for many people,it’s an all day chance with a natural and solid taste of tobbaco, simple and “desingn”.

Black Coffee is a good coffe, black…

It doesnt remind me of coffee. It is basically plain tobacco with a decent latakia note.  I have the 500g tube though, perhaps this doesnt come through in tins that have lost their shine.

Black Coffee has been my main snuff for the last month and a half. I am assuming you are asking whether the base tobacco of these two is the same (given that BC has an added coffee flavouring agent not present in the Viking). In my honest opinion, no it isn’t. Viking Dark has less of a fermented taste to my nose than BC, which shares some notes of tar and smokiness with Black Rappee. I don’t really get these in the same way from Viking Dark. Also, the Viking is notably stronger in nicotine in my experience (to the point where I don’t really reach for it that often).

Those are my impressions, in any case.

I’ve been back and forth on these for the past 2 weeks. Viking is a fluffier grind and has different base tobacco. Viking is stronger in Nic as well. I enjoy Black Coffee much more, but that nic hit from viking can make you have to sit down for a few minutes and it is one of few dark snuffs that don’t seem to have any flavorings which to me is a good thing.
