Rustica as RYO?

A

I’ve smoked, chewed and dipped my way through the best part of 30 years, although now I consider myself an exclusive snuff user, with the odd lapse. Smokers will know what I mean; every once in a while you just crave that ferocious hit that only a good smoke can give. I hit one of those spots about 10 minutes ago. Wife tucked up in bed, son at work, bottom part of the house all mine, the thought just kept growing. So I stalked down to the kitchen, opened a window (Not allowed to smoke in house) and rolled myself a fat one with crumbled Rustica. Man, that was rough but it hit the spot. There is a decent RYO tobacco to be made from that. Now I have to face my dear wife in the morning who will detect my awful sin. Who cares, a woman is a woman but a good roll up is a smoke…

What a novel idea! I myself can no longer smoke at all, but after working up all the Rustica for snuff I was curious if it could be tolerable as a smoke, I am sure you got a nicotine fix from it! Bravo!!! Me, 280 days smoke free, I do not want to start over.

A

Oh sure, I wouldn’t advocate it when you are stopping in that way. Its just that the only way I have been able to 99% ditch the smokes is because I say to myself ‘if things get too bad just have one’ For some reason that keeps me sane and I’ve also refused to feel any guilt whatsoever. I know that might be a bit weird but worked for me. It was a hell of a hit but like smoking something that a derelict might give you! I did sense that with the right treatment it would be a good smoking tobacco though.

N

You should use it as a condiment tobacco in a virginia air cured shag.

A

Not abad idea - it would bring a nice, rough edge to it.

I’ll be getting a small bowled pipe for it myself. A kiseru or a medwakh or even a native American Indian peace pipe. Good to have it tested by a pro. Thanks for that.

Thanks mate

I haven’t been able to keep the rustica lit , neither in a pipe nor rolled up. Mixed with some other dried tobacco leftovers it did provide for a unique and tasty smoke.

M

I had the same experience Jack, wouldnt stay lit by itself. But mixed with some other tobacco it was nice.

Hence the specific pipes to suck boys. Hard, fast, deep and begging for mercy from the east, west, north then south. Then you are done. I mean done. Just sit and wait for God to speak to you. Directly!

Hahah, love your posts, Juxtaposer! You’re about as close to a modern-day prophet as I’ve ever heard…!

That was the problem, I had to smoke the RYO with a lighter flame going most of the time a la crack. There’s obviously more to this tobacco lark than just drying the stuff out.
