I’m having a trouble here…
I started taking snuff about 1 month ago with Wilsons of Sharrow S.M. blue that a guy gave to me to try
Since then I got into this hobbie, and I kinda like it, but, now I ordered some Poschl’s snuffs and a Schmalzler A from them and now I always get a running nose and I don’t want to be always blowing my nose.
On finer snuffs like Wilsons of Sharrow I sniff gently so that it doesn’t go to my throat and on the Poschl’s I sniff harder because the tobacco is coarser.
I want to know if there is a solution to treat my running nose or do I have to always be blowing my nose everytime I take a sniff
Even with the finer snuffs i always get running nose
This is my procedure, I put an amount on the back of my hand, about a pea sized amount, then I sniff and then for a few seconds I breathe through my nose just to taste the tobacco. After a few minutes my nose starts to get “blocked” and then I either sniff the drip or I just go with my handkerchief to clean the drip that goes out through the nose.

Perhaps try cutting out menthol for a bit and see if the drip still happens ?

I tried Schmalzler A, which some people say that it’s not for begginers because it’s very coarse and oily and still if i don’t sniff in my nose the drip comes.
Maybe it’s the amount of snuff that i take, I don’t know, or maybe this is normal and I need to get used to it

Schmalzer A is easy to take for a novice . It’s just the cakey German style that makes it an adventurous choice for a new user .

If you can rule out menthol as a trigger then it may be something you have to get used to . Sample a plain snuff perhaps ? Wilsons Plain is a good one for a new snuffer .

Ok, and do you think that I should take a smaller amount of snuff? Or do I just stay with the pea size?
Some people also say apple seed size, which is smaller
Btw, Schmalzler A gives me a huge nic hit, and I’m used to smoke very concentrated latakia blends on my pipe. I had to sit down for a while after taking it for the first time xD.

Pea sized sounds fine to me …but you could experiment with a smaller portion to see if it still triggers your drip problem .

Traditionally the Germans really packed this schmalzler stuff in , by the spoonful .

I kinda like the german snuffs over the wilsons snuffs, they have more flavour in them, I will stick with the Poschl snuffs.
