Does anyone here have better luck sniffing Rooster or Garret off the back of the hand as opposed to pinching? I have been trying for several days now (without much success) to pinch Rooster without getting a fit of the coughs. I tried it this evening off the back of my hand and it seemed to work just fine.

The last few days I have been snuffing my American snuffs from a spoon, and it’s been working great. I think when I pinched it it compacted the snuff a bit and it wouldn’t spread out in my nose. I’ve been using a 1/8th tsp measuring spoon that I was just using when I made a blend, instead of an expensive snuff spoon, but it works great for snuffing. Maybe some day I’ll splurge for a nice silver one.

You can put more on the back of your hand than you can pinch. Don’t be afraid to cry, just sniff sharply. The turbulence of a sharper sniff and the larger mass will help keep the gravity of the snuff. Snuff in the lungs is something you will get used to. Not such a big deal for non-smokers. Smokers may want to regrow their damaged cilia before attempting this type of dusting. This is all from my jaded point of view. A short enough spoon that you can leave in the tube is cool too.
