Just figured I would make my own review thread for you guys AND for me… just so I make sure not to get some horrible snuffs… again Jaxons Cherry Menthol: Grind: medium-coarse. Moisture: OMG DID GET A DESERT IN A BOX?!?¿¡¿ Scents picked up: Almost no menthol, strong cherry. Comments: They should call this Gloomy menthol, but cherry cherry. WHERE IS THE MENTHOL?!? I get lots of cherry, but almost no menthol. It’s somewhat irritating in the nose, like you’d expect of a dry semi-coarse snuff. BUT HEY! At least the cherry is good and sweet, and after aging, you’ll actually get some tobacco-flavor too! Perfect if tyou like pipe-tobaccos with the aroma of cherry. Jaxons english toffee: Same grind and moisture as Jaxons cherry menthol. Scent: SWEET TOFFEE OF DOOM! Very smokey and sweet. It’s a must together with a cup of coffee. Comments: Slightly irritating in the nose, may be the smokiness, but oh so sweet and deliciously smooth toffee! I wont be getting this or gloomy menthol, cherry cherry again. Just personal preference. McC apricot: It’s fine It’s kinda moist Hard to take. It’s sweet, but doesnt really remind me of a fruit. Won’t be gettin this again. McC Anisette same as above, but REAL GOOD ANISETTE! Boring by itself, good to mix with menthols. WoS carnation fine, dry, cough. It smells good-ish, but is impossible to take. WoS cinnamon: Id rather sniff just cinnamon WoS extra crumbs of comfort: Don’t like the peppermint, it seems a little artificial… unless all other peppermints in my life has been artificial and this has been real. No likey. WoS orange chocolate: It’s orange, it’s chocolate, put it up your nose and it feels like chocolate up there. Dont try to eat it though, self-proclaimed experts have found out through scientific means that it doesn’t taste what it smells. WHY DON’T YOU TASTE AS GOOD AS YOU SMELL?!? WoS coffee cream: EW! IT’S NOTHING LIKE COFFEE OR CREAM! GET AWAY FROM ME! WoS extra menthol: Easy to take when you got a cold, avoid it when you have a clear nose, it’ll kick your throat. Deliciously strong menthol though, feels really cold in the nose and just blasts those sinuses open. Extremely good in the shower, it’ll clean your nose like no other mother. WoS honey menthol: After having spent a few bullets and several pinches with this snuff, it’s time to re-review it. The honey gets weaker (but still very noticeable), as time goes. The menthol stays the same, and it doesn’t dry out fast. It’s very smooth, but potent menthol. The nicotine can be noticed too (and that’s quite something, coming from me!). It doesn’t clog me up, but can make my nose a wee bit runny. It probably shouldn’t be used all day, every day, for me, it’s an all-dayer, every-dayer! It’s very easy to take, and it’s fairly most, so easy to take for pros and n00bs alike. If you like something smooth, check it out, if you like sweet honey, take a few pinches, if you like menthol you might aswell pour it into your nostrils and eat what you can’t get up there! 15/10! Gawith apricot: Strong menthol, subtle apricot. The way I like it. Moist and coarse-ish, so VERY easy to take. It was my first snuff. Ozona president: Sweet menthol and other weird things. Smells like a sweet version of fischerman’s friend original. Not overpowering menthol, just good. This was my second snuff. Gletscherprise: Good menthol with a hint of… beer. Opens the nose somewhat, same grind and moisture as president and gawith apricot. Just as easy to take as them.
Forgpt qsnuff ice cool: Its not ice cool, its fine, and somewhat moist. Smells a little like a stable, doesnt open the nose but for SOME reason… its good. I like the handky that comes in the combo.
If Snuff is anything like e-liquid it’s terribly subjective. Time and again reviews for an e-liquid are all over the map. I suppose it’s like anything else. Find someone who has the same taste as yourself and you’re good to go. Still, now I’m leery of trying WoS. I was > going to try most you reviewed @Rogue.
@Valiant please, do try WoS. Their extra menthol and honey and menthol is absolutely wonderful. The extra menthol is one I’ll only take when I have colds though…AND IT REALLY WORKS AS MEDICINE! And yeah, I’m aware of snuff being very jective, these are all my reviews and the way my nose sees them…or smells them. I’ve found WoS to be horribly hard to take (most) but WoS honey menthol was much easier due to its increased moisture, and it was absolutely worth it. If you dig menthol, you have to try extra menthol, YOU JUST HAVE TO! I haven’t really “LIKED” any snuff as much as pöschl…and I haven’t had pöschl for some time now…figured it was time to experiment some more. I might actually settle with WoS honey menthol and extra menthol for the rest of my life! Just try them, really. They’re wonderful. Oh! And don’t eat orange chocolate…
I love your review of the chocolate orange. I just snarfed snuff.
@Rogue, I’m sold. Heh, you could get a job in sales easy! I’m glad you’re enjoying WoS so much. Though I’ve never liked mentholated cigarettes or e-liquid I’ve tried in the past I won’t let that stop me from trying your suggested mentholated Snuff. I didn’t mean to sound so critical about reviews! I *always* enjoy reading reviews before placing an order. Choosing which to try is half the fun.
@Valiant I dont like menthlated cigs much either, but the wos menthols are so good! I hated wos to begin with, but after trying their menthols im giving their entire brand a new run for all my cash. And I totally agree, finding the snuffs is just as fun as taking em. Do order directly from wos though, its REALLY fresh that way, and ammonia is no problem with them at all.
Re-review of jaxons gloomy menthol, cherry cherry: After aging, running low, and basking in the heat in my pockets, the cherry has toned down, and flavorful. sweet, aromatic and strong tobacco has come forth. If you like cherry flavored pipe-tobacco, this is the snuff for you.
Update: fixed typos and added some additional info (which I’ve found out by using the snuff a lot more)
More reviews @Rogue
@Malatesta Id have to buy more snuffs to review more, which can only happen when Ive finished some of the tins I currently have, I dont like the idea of snuff going bad. 5g would last me just about the right time for a snuff, but buying 5g (when you buy snuffs once in a blue moon), is a waste. I like to buy a couple of large tins (and a few small of those I know I wont like too much), then spend time with the snuffs, learn about them, how they age, when they smell best, if it dries the nose, moistens it, clogs it, opens it etc. Gonna fill in all that info at a later time too, when a tin runs empty, and my decision is final.
After having spent a LOT of time with honey and menthol (we’re talking NOTHING but honey and menthol), I’ve posted an update and will now spend some time with the ultra-ass-kicking-extra-menthol-mentholmegatron 3000…AKA WoS extra menthol.
Samuel Gawith Blue Crest: Medium dry, kinda fine, but surprisingly easy to take! It smells a lot like incense to me… exotic perfume, very sweet and pleasant, may be a bedtime snuff!!! Its very fluffy too. Samuel Gawith aniseed: Same texture as above, it has a weak sent of aniseed, similar to McC anisette, but much fainter, quite pleasant. sg cob gold: Also has a slight incense sent, very spicy, reminds me a lot of walking into an indian store carrying lots of spices, same texture as above, did I mention they all have a light color? This too is very pleasant and relaxing. My nose if full of snuffs as we speak, Im gonna flush with some wos honey and menthol, large doses will flush all old snuff out. Ugh… throat hit, forgot one has to respect wos menthols when taking them. Did I mention I love wos honey menthol? I do… its almost empty, thats how much I love it. Nose isnt running yet, taking more wos honey menthol, I may have to call for backup with wow EXTRA menthol!!! Ok, no problem, WoS honey menthol flushed it out while I was having some tea. Can this possibly get more off-topic? Its turning into my diary. Oh well while Im at it…Im having some biscuits, one of those sweet pretty natural ones… Not sure what its made of, bu its one of those biscuits that only adults like, so it cant be THAT unhealthy. mCVities digestives, thats the name! Theyre pretty good, a nice fruit and berries tea compliments it. ok lets see, SG Mimosa’s turn: Wow, thats hard… it smells sweet, a little chocolatey, a little earthy, seems to last a little while… is this a soap sent? This is extremely hard… its somethng Ive smelled before, but cant remember what it is… toffee, it smells a lot like toffee. Side-note: Doesnt taste good if you try to eat it, kinda salty, not sweet. This is a complex one, I have no idea what it is, all I know is that its sweet. Sg Afterglow: Ive been lookin forward to this one, I like peppermint. OH MY GOODNESS!! IM GLAD THAT BOX IS CHICK-FULL, CAUSE THATS PEPPERMINT ALRIGHT!!! Its PERFECT peppermint, cool, but not too cool, sweet, but not too sweet… DING DING, WE HAVE A FAVORITE SG!!! Oh my… I can sniff that all day! Serious stuff goes here: None of the snuffs produce a burn, Id say theyre very high in nicotine, but that may be due to me taking a LOT of them all for over 40 minutes straight, plus wos honey menthol…Did I mention I had a cig before trying them all? Before I took a lot though, they seemed pretty mild, so theyre probably mild unless you take a lot. As some of you may have noticed I didnt rate any of them. I considered doing it, but if I rated something 1/5, some of you may avoid that particular snuff, which I dont want you to do, cause these reviews are based solely on MY impressions, I instead changed the way I review them by typing down what I pick up from them. Happy snuffing!
WoS cinnamon: Id rather sniff just cinnamon
Sorry for replying so late to such an old message, but as I happen to have tested most of the snuffs you had reviewed, I had to say that I agree wholeheartedly with these particular reviews. All McChrystal snuffs are high quality, but some smells, sadly enough, don’t work. WoS Carnation smells like dry carnation, a smell that I love (somewhat similar to a simpler Old Spice cologne), but the flour is simply too dry, too fine and one-dimensional, so it’s not a snuff I’d recommend. The Cinnamon I got was quite fresh, so it smelled of pure essential oil and burnt like hell on earth (no noticeable tobacco): all in all, not a pleasurable experience to my nose, and too overwhelming to be mixed. Keep up with the good and useful reviews!
@MarvinLapsus will keep the reviews up, waiting for the snuffstore snuffs to come knockin on my front door, for reasons unknown to me, I feel theyll be top quality snuffs.
Theres something about these SG snuffs I cant quite put my finger on, despite pinching. Theyre pretty fine, dry, nothng out of the ordinary there, the scents are weak, they give no proper HIT, but underneath it all, it has a depth, theres something about them. The weak, faint blue crest has something underneath it all, its pleasant, but hardly noticeable, the stronger smelling Mimosa is sweet, but heavily toned down, the scents are warm, nice and sweet, but its a mystery, Ive smelled it before, but do not know where or when. sg afterglow has more of a hit, but conplex and deep no less, all the sg snuffs Ive tried seem to have this incredible depth to them, can someone tell me what Im smelling?!? What is this pleasant, weak scent in them, that not even WoS have? This is driving me insane, how can a snuff with no proper hit be so good?! What is this black magic?!? I take pinch after pinch of blue crest, extremely faint scent, BUT ITS PLEASING!!! WHAT IS THIS?!?!?
OMG!!! I JUST TOOK BLUE CREST OUTSIDE IN THE WIND!!! IT WAS SUMMER IN MY NOSE., I SWEAR! The grass was growing, the trees were waking up the flowers, and they all smelled sweet and didnt make me sneezy! Blue crest is definately a snuff ill use when Im working outside! I cannot stress how good that was! Get yor wallets up and pay mrsnuff to receive a blue crest!!! Its just… wow!! The day is soon over though, and tomorrow ill write more about another snuff, but heres my experience with blue crest this far: SG BLUE CREST: They say its hay, an old farm… I say the grass smells sweeter, it has sweet, aromaful spices, the trees are waking up the flowers, the few birds that are awake at 4 AM (the air is fresher at 4 am) are singing, in the distance, someone is making porridge, the scent reaches you, but just a little, is that biscuit? There are no cars passing, no polluted air, just the sent of flowers, given a unique sweetness by the rising sun, shining with warm honey. Tha scenery, is just what it smells like! I know I said I wouldnt rate the snuffs, but this is 5/5, no one can possibly dislike that smell!
I too think Blue Crest is superb. I’m doing a 120 mile hike in June and intend travelling light. Blue Crest will be in my nose as it is now.
@Franknsnuff ya,its pretty good, very natural. And very smooth, easy to take…its awesome.
Ok, most of the sg snuffs are now dried out, smells like dust, resting in the bin. NEVER BUY TAPBOXES!!! Afterglow has been keeping pretty well though, and I have nothing to say about it that may be seen as negative. Its sweet., very very bery minty, somewhat cold, and easy to take, thevsmell does linger a little. All in all an excellent snuff! Gonna be reviewing snuffstore snuffs soon.
