Review - Railroad Mills Maccoboy snuff

I had heard people saying that this snuff is no longer in production, so on the off-chance that I would like it I bought a large bottle of it from Nicotine Rush. I’m glad I did, as this snuff is excellent. I hope they keep making it if they haven’t stopped yet. Like the Railroad Mills Checkerberry snuff, this snuff is dark brown and quite moist. It is easy to take in the nose or mouth. The bottle says it is “Rose scented”, and rose is definitely the predominant scent here. The rose scenting is much subtler than Gawith Hoggarth’s “English Rose”, which is the only other rose snuff I have tried. It has a light sweetness to it as well. I don’t usually like floral snuffs, but something about Maccoboy snuff really appeals to me. It reminds me a little of Turkish Delight. As with the Checkerberry, this snuff works very well as a dip and probably most American users of this product have historically used this product orally. It is fairly strong in terms of nicotine, and the flavour has a nice way of spreading around the mouth without making it feel dry and without creating a noticeable bulge in the lip. I think I prefer it in the nose, but I have some in my lip right now and it is very satisfying. The bottle format helps to keep this product fresh and moist, and anyone preferring to pinch their tobacco simply has to pour a bit of it into the lid and pinch from there.

Unlike the South African snuffs, I prefer this one dry. When it’s moist, It’s way more messy than say Taxi or NTSU (Dholakia black too). But I also prefer its scent when dry. Makes quite a difference. I just had some that way – which is what made me think of it.
