This beautiful Schmalzler has always been one of my favourites. It can only be purchased in 100g bags, but such is the situation with these. It is dark, it is rich, it is sweet and it is moist. Pöschl is producing this Schmalzler after an original recipe which once belonged to the Bogenstätter company from the town of Grafenau in Germany. There is still a snuff museum in that town today. When Bogenstätter went out of business, the recipe entered the Pöschl lineup. And I’m happy it did. There is something about this particular Schmalzler that others don’t seem to have. The smell is a strong beautiful scent of dried prunes, dried figs and heavy brasil tobacco. I know that Bernard’s might be more popular or famous and surely great in their own right. But if you ever try a Schmalzler just once, I think this should be the one. The snuffing properties with this kind of tobacco are quite particular. Again, it can only be purchased in 100g bags but this is completely different from anything else. Schmalzler is smooth and soft to the nose, there is no stinging and throat drip. It is meant to be snuffed in large amounts. There are in fact competitions in Bavaria (Germany) where the winner shovels the most Schmalzler into his nose. Of course I don’t recommend that because we all want to enjoy it, but it should be said that this tobacco is probably the easiest to snuff that I know of. I don’t think it can in any way be compared to the English or even the other mentholised Pöschl products. The popular Bernard’s Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert that some of you might be familiar with is much drier and cleaner in flavour than this one. Where Bernard has produced a straight tobacco Schmalzler, Pöschl (or in fact Bogenstätter) have managed to compose a deeper, richer snuff that can immediately make you wonder why you haven’t tried it before. And if you have, you know what I mean. On a closing note, if you purchase this one, be sure to keep it in a container that closes well. Everything I described is great when the tobacco is fresh, that is moist enough. You don’t want it to dry out too much, your nose will be slightly unhappy if it does.
My personal favorite Poschl, their schmalzlers are good but their snuffs are rubbish
Sounds nice. Is it on Mr. Snuff? Is this the same? https://mrsnuff.com/product\_info.php?products\_id=772
Yes, that’s the one.
