Reveille

Well, boys, this morning I ran through the last of my beloved SG Irish D Original and since they no longer make Original I must weep. Why did they stop making it? I cleverly hoarded the large stash I purchased before the end. It has been my companion snuff for quite a while. But really, we should pause for a moment of silence for all the wonderful snuffs that have come and are no more, for, tobacco, like beer, is proof that God loves us. Amen. :((

I’m still mourning the loss of SG McCombie. That was a clean, beautiful tobacco scent.

What? NOOO! I was going to order it! Why?

I asked Bob Gregory when I visited the mill last year. He confirmed what had been posted here somewhere, that the tobacco they made it from was no longer available. Such a shame. I presume there was nothing they could use that would give a similar scent so they just stopped making it.

How does tobacco types suddenly become “unavailable”? The same reasom was given for Pariser. Methinks its just not a huge seller and the tobacco being special, is no longer worth the cost.

Could be farms going bankrupt. I read somewhere that it’s happening a lot to farms in Zimbabwe. Tobacco characteristics vary by climate, so the location where it is grown is important.

“Dear Sir. McCombie has not been made by us for over two years. The reason……it did not sell in sufficient quantities to justify the long production time it took to make.” That’s the response I received from SG.
