You can’t. PC boxes are quite fragile and its best to have two or three so that you are not using one all the time. My first one literally fell apart one day. If the split is clean you could try PVA wood glue though or a spot of epoxy.

Rats, I think mine is beyond repair it’s less than two months old

Can new PC boxes be found anywhere other than snuffgear.com? Is PC still active on this board?

He must have a deal with them. Personally I would never buy another PC box, the first dropped to bits and the second the lid slackened off so much that it was unuseable, steaming etc not withstanding. PC boxes are a perfect size but the wood is very thin and you really need to rotate a few. I use silver boxes now because they are so durable and they last a lifetime of robust carrying and use. Invest in a decent silver snuff and you will never need a replacement unless you lose it.

That’s the one I use. One of the very few genuine silvers snuffs still being made. When you get it you might find the odd leak if you shake it over a piece of paper - don’t worry, they all do that. Just wrap it in a soft cloth and give it a few judicious squeezes. You can usually seal any leaks with 10 minutes of cautious and gentle re-shaping.

These come from the English company Ari.D.Norman who you can buy off direct, although I doubt there will be any price difference for non-trade. You can see mine on the daily intake thread. It is a great snuff box and I really recommend them. Wood is useless unless its dealt with properly and I wouldn’t recommend any of the current crop of wood boxes, so invest in something you will give to the grandkids.

Got the same but with the linear engraving. It’s nice, and does hold a good amount of snuff. What would you say Snuffster, maybe one could pack 10g’s in there if you really wanted to?

I think 10g sounds about right. But I found it was better to half fill it because of the sliding lid.

I was in very happy with mine, went to slide the lid open and it flew off the box and split down the side. It had become loose on one side and finally gave way. I loved that box!

The thing with PC boxes is that they work best with dry snuffs -  moist snuffs (like schmalzlers, some F&T’s) makes the wood loosen/warp.
It’s best to use them for toasts, SPs and scotches, I have found.
