ive tried cooled boiled water in the past, and it ruined the taste of both snus and makla (infact, it made the makla smell strongly like yeast, so i didnt touch it. im looking at my bottle of white rum, and wondering if i could use that to remoisten my skruf los?

@Firestarter0 I’ve had some success with a little water added to the can and mixing it, but it never did come back to the real deal. This was a 6 month old can of Ettan Los. It was tough and didn’t smell great. It was useable but was glad to get through it. Let us know if you get something suitable and how you did it.

@Firestarter0 I think the snus manufacturers use a little vegetable glycerin to help it retain it’s moisture…do you have anything like that?

F

unfortunatley i dont, i just have alcohol or water really (ha!). ill wait till it really needs rehydrating then ill try the rum or something, and post back. i dont want to ruin it just yet.

T

@Firestarter0 just be sure your rum isn’t high proof. I think it would burn your gums if it was.

F

its bacardi white regular, i reckon its about 35/37%, not sure on proof, never bothered with proof ratings.

T

that shouldn’t cause any issues…if it was Bacardi 151 you’d regret it fast.

I just wet my hand before I roll it into a prilla, or let the wet hand drip on the can. At the least just use it dry and let my saliva moisten it. I’m kind of surprised at the question, actually, its much less complicated than rehydrating snuff, which itself is easy. Don’t worry about oils or glycerin, etc. These things take YEARS to evaporate. They just slow down the water evaporation. You won’t need to replenish these unless you are working for a museum and trying to revive snus from your archeological dig for display… Just add water whichever way seems the least messy, You’ll be fine.

im not talking about portions, as i just use them dry, have been for months. its the fact i cant get the los to stick anymore so it just crumbles and slides.

B

Just treat it like cope or orther non-packing snuffs and put in in the lower deck if needs be. As @Xander says, the saliva will moisten it. I doubt your going to be able to bring it back to it’s original state once it is dry. Best of luck!

I rehydrated some snus by putting a small piece of wet tissue in the can for a day. Worked fine
