I decided out of boredom last night to re-visit some snuffs that have been just sitting in the drawer for quite some time. Boy am I glad that I did. I was reminded of just how much I like Viking Dark and also found that I now enjoy the Radford Medicated much more than I did say 8 months or so ago when I had last used it. I guess what Im trying to say is…don’t forget about those snuffs that have gotten out of your rotation,or gotten shoved to the back of the drawer. You just might find a few nice surprises by digging some stuff out that you either didn’t care for or just haven’t thought of or used in a while.
Thanks for the reminder. It becomes especially easy to forget about some snuffs when you start getting a serious collection going. Viking dark has been a staple of my rotation for a long time to the point that I can’t imagine going without it but other snuffs that I like often go ignored because of that. I’ve got some digging to do.
Mmmm yes the Viking dark is going to be getting a lot of attention from me now that I discovered it [again]. Already put some more in the shopping cart over at MRSNUFF. I also put some new menthols in there too since it seems Im enjoying menthol more now than I did early on in my snuffing career. I think its time to go dig a few more out of the back of the drawer
Good call, I been on a white run and still carry something from 6 photo. but rotation is important especially to keep track of what needs to be reordered. I also just opened some new tins; so easy to forget about old favorites, with so many new favorites.
I agree. A few months ago, Toque Quit was my number one, I used it more than anything else. Quite suddenly, I got really bored with it and discovered some other strong, plain tobacco snuffs, particularly the fine Indian ones. I relegated the Quit to my back draw. Last night, just for the hell of it, I got out a flask of Quit again. It’s really good snuff. With some of the other Toque snuffs, when I first started, I really couldn’t pick up the scent of them. I tried some of them last night, too, and couldn’t understand why I didn’t appreciate them earlier. And all this from someone who was really happy smoking the same brand of pipe tobacco eight times a day. Snuff is different. Tastes change.
Some snuffs I like more on a revisit, some less. I’ve found I’m much less partial to the vast majority of Wilsons snuffs just because my nose is used to snuffs that are either much drier and finer or much wetter and coarser. Wilsons are right in the middle such that my nose isn’t used to sniffing them anymore. I might spend a lot more time with them over the summer though, summer is the best snuff season, the warm air really improves snuffing IMO.
