Tomorrow at 9am UK time on 14-01-2014 BBC Radio 4 is a broadcast about snuff and e-cigs: 14/01/2014 Duration: 28 minutes First broadcast: Tuesday 14 January 2014 Jonathan Freedland is joined by Rod Liddle to compare the rise of electronic cigarettes today with the increasing popularity of snuff in the 17th century. In 1600s, snuff came to be seen as a more socially acceptable alternative to smoking tobacco. Nevertheless there were lingering concerns about the health effects of the new product. As the use of electronic cigarettes takes off today, Jonathan and guests discuss the lessons from history. Producer Laurence Grissell.
Will be at work so will have to get it later off Radio 4 website. Folks out of UK could most likely do this too.
Interesting programme. Thanks for the heads-up shezzuk1.
Did anyone listen to this? What conclusions did they draw? I missed the program but am interested to hear this kind of analysis.
Hi puffpuff. It’s available on Radio 4 website.
^ on way there now— @puffpuff — agreed would like to hear some reaction(s) from my mates across the pond
It was funny hearing the femi-health-nazi from the BMA getting her arse reamed. She claimed e-cigs are bad because they reinforce the ‘hand to mouth’ habit and proceeded to say that the big pharma nicotine ‘substitutes’ are better, followed by a lie that the BMA has no vested interest in big pharma…well worth a listen just to hear her say that.
The funny thing about big pharma quit smoking pills is that they are failed anti-depressants that made people feel sick when they smoked so they just remarketed them as quit smoking pills
