Radford Premium

I was wondering if any of you snuff heads out there could give a review on Radford Premium Snuff. I was wondering if it lives up to the product description. Is it like an angel kissing your nose, nothing short of heaven or is it like eating a cheap leisure suit? I guess my point is, is it worth trying? Here is the description: An exceptionally premium snuff for those who settle for nothing but the best. Twice-fermented tobacco leaves and a particularly gentle grinding process combined with select spices and aromatic substances to create a new dimension in the enjoyment of snuff.

Well I just dug my Radford Premium Mild snuff out and took a healthy hit. The first thing it reminds me of is being around somebody who is smoking a pipe, which is something I have never done, but I have been around people that were smoking them, and to me that it what it smells like. Actually it kind of smells just like the place I bought it from which is Iwan Ries cigar shop in downtown Chicago. It has a bit of a vanilla flavor to it, but also smokey. For me nothing great, and something I hadn’t touched since the day I bought it about 7 months ago, and probably wouldn’t have thought to snuff it had it not been for this post. That being said, maybe once a month or so I get the taste for vanilla and have been going to my Wilson’s Vanilla for my fix. After revisiting my Radford I am more likely to grab the Radford next time I’m in the mood for a fix of Vanilla.

Thank you for your review. Maybe Poschl mixed in some of there vanilla pipe tobacco blend? I do like pipe smoke but if I was going that route I would rather just burn a bowl, unless more reviews come in that change my mind!!! Thanks again Snuffy McSnuffins

I never tried Radford’s snuffs. I know the Radford’s Pipe Tobacco…but never heared about snuffs. …have a nice “pinch” and a refreshing American beer !!! Pedro

I just tried this snuff for myself. It was one of many that I ordered from Rajek’s recently. I really enjoy this snuff, but was having trouble pinning the scent. After reading Poo-Diddy’s review, I do noticed a mild vanilla hiding behind the initial medium menthol hit. I also detect a slight fruity undertone, almost a berry, which finishes this snuff off lightly. If I have a craving for vanilla, this would not be the first snuff I’d reach for. I’d likely head to my Wilsons or Lotzbech. The grind and moisture is typical of most Poschl snuffs, therefor a great snuff for a beginner.

I think it’s a good snuff, but like most Poshl’s it’s mentholated. I do like it, but I wish it didn’t have the menthol. I don’t understand why Poschl has to put menthol in everything. It just hides the more interesting flavours for me. I do like the “hidden” flavours in the Radford, but I’d rather not have to search so hard for it.

I used to snuff a lot of Radford. I was living in Germany and had not discovered Schmalzlers. All that was available was Poeschl in the convenience stores and Radford was my favorite.

Yes, for me Radford is most “schmalzler” like of the poschl boxed snuffs. There’s a certain sweetness behind the menthol that is pretty nice. I carried it all day yesterday when fishing and it was pretty good.

This is really one of the best, perhaps the best, snuff Poschl produces. A light menthol that serves, like salt, to increase the essence of the other aromas - vanilla and something else i can’t place my finger on. i want to say it is just one of their baseline schmalzler’s with the menthol added. but it is more complex than that.

I agree with most of the comments about Radford. I detect menthol, of course, but the subtle vanilla and some other scents I can’t quite put my finer on are quite nice. The menthol clears my nose quickly, then the other scents arrive, then my nose eventually gets a little clogged…

Radford Premium is a mildly mentholated, sweet, medium-fine tobacco with almost a fudgelike flavor. I’m sure there’s some vanilla in there but it’s not nearly as prominent as others have said, in my opinion. It also comes in a really cool tap box. I really like it a lot, and I would definitely recommend it. If you’re looking for richness in a snuff, this is it!

Wow, a guy just sent me a Radford premium snuff a Royal and red bull he wasn’t going to use. I just picked it up from the post office and on the way home I opened the package to see what’s in side. I took a pinch of Radford premium and I have to say I think I actually liked it. Right away I start thinking what am I picking up here? Its defiantly pleasantly creamy. So sure enough I did s search on here and found this review right away. And amazingly @Poo-Diddy‌ describes it just the way I feet about it at the moment more less. It reminds me of some kind of good sweet cup of hot creme vanilla coffee. And maybe tones of sucking on a minty creamy chocolate mint while drinking it. And its not to over powering. The only sad part is that I only have it in my possession for two hours and my nose is clogged.

4 years later and I still love this snuff.

Those do sound good. I think I’ll have some schmalzler now.
