Quittinq smoking with snuff

Hi! I am a new member from finland! I have smoked for 17 years, and now i want to quit it. What snuff do you recommend to me at first? And can i be managed to stop smoking with snuff?

Iā€™ve been smoke free since April 20th, purely due to snuff. Yes, it can definitely be done.

Hi Marko, Iā€™d say a stronger snuff. Toque Quit or Taxi Red for example will give more nicotine. Or, try Snus from northerner.com youā€™ll defiantly quit with that stuff

I have used snus for 8 years, but i quit last summer. Because i went to dentist, and he told me to quit. And i really want to quit smoking. I have used snuff sometimes, when it has been available. I placed an order, and wait for my snuff to comeā€¦

ā€¦What does your otolaryngologist have to say? Ha ha, but seriously. Does any one have an otolaryngologist that can give us the skinny? I didnā€™t think so.

I am currently trying to quit smoking by taking snuff and today I have only had one cigarette which I even put out halfway, I smoked the rest later, but it has really kept my cravings away but the hardest part is quitting the act of smoking. Hopefully I can quit after 4 years of smoking (not a long time but itā€™s still not easy). Iā€™m taking W. E. Garrett & Sons Sweet Mild Snuff and I love it already

Having a snuffbox of some kind in my chest shirt pocket helped also for meā€“I guess because thatā€™s where I always had my smokes and I was still able to reach in my pocket and FEEL something there to help me. Yea, though like I said before, whether itā€™s snuff or snus, it will still require a little bit of stubburn willpower to WANT to quit, but anyone can do itā€¦( I like Toque Quit) ā€¦Good Luck!

I just took a pinch when I wanted a smoke, and it worked for me. I also would take flavored toothpicks, chew on them a bit, and dip them in some Garrett sweet and chew on that. Helped a lot with the hand-mouth action that cigs provided.

I agree with Bart. You must have the want to quit attitude. Get your game face on. The metaphor I like to use for changing an addictive behavior is that of riding a bull. Imagine trying to catch and ride an angry bull (your addiction). You want so badly to catch that bull but heā€™s so ferocious. He keeps thrashing and gouging. Most of the time its all you can do to just keep him quiet and at bay (this would be my succumbing to the addiction). But on rare occasions that bull hurts me so bad I want to show him whoā€™s master. I work up the nerve to grab that sucker by the horns and mount him(maybe I quit smoking for a day). Iā€™m on that son of a gun now, and the more I ride the hotter he gets(withdrawal). Now, here is the moment where I must not let go because there is no telling when I will work up the guts to put myself through this punishment again. I do my best to keep that in mind as he racks me hard. But he canā€™t keep up forever. Sooner or later heā€™s got to give in and I will have victory. I have been cigarette free since October. I used snus and snuff. There still are times where I think of giving up but I remember the damn bull this time. Marko, I agree with others who recommend Toque Quit.

'The mind is willing, but the body is weak" Sometimes a person must PUNISH himself with some Dholakia White when his mind begins to wander about cigs,(or you may prefer using a knotted-up length of rope, or ride a bullā€“or even milk a bull) whatever it takes to make it over that hump. It is only a temporary desire to smoke, though, so it will go awayā€¦

I like thinking about how shitty and horrible cigarette smokers smell. Or basicly that cigs are shit!!

@bigblue1 Iā€™ve a Swedish friend who has used snus since he was 13 heā€™s almost 30 now. Heā€™s only had check-ups with the dentist, never any work done in his whole life. He did ask his dentist about snus and was told, nicotine will kill the germs in the mouth. However he did suggest alternating which side he placed his chew in the upper lip because, itā€™s doing a nice job of decaying your gums. He could tell by the dent in the upper gum!

The only issue about oral tobacco that enters my mind, is gum health, like recession. I always look at my mouth, and havenā€™t noticed anything new/bad, but that is what would motivate me to quit.

Quitting with snuff is as real viable option, the thing is I think you have to give it a few days for you to aclimatise. But at the end of the day you are getting the nicotine you crave - you just need to substitute all those smoking rituals that we all have to snuffing rituals. I swear by having a nice snuff box - it just seems to make the whole thing more tactile and pleasant.

I told my dentist Iā€™d gone from cigs to snus and snuff, and he found it interesting (he being an avid scotch drinker and pipe smoker). Except he said, ā€œI canā€™t take you seriously when you say the word ā€˜snus.ā€™ It sounds made-up!ā€ By the way, my dental exam went fine, no issues!
