Quick pipe question?

Hello guys, think this post is in the right place. I was looking at pipes this evening and saw a pipe that I really like the shape of but I don’t know what the shape is called to look at others. So the question is do you know the name of this shape?

almost looks like an oom paul pipe ,I could be wrong

This search term has worked found quite a few more, thanks very much @basement_shaman always on hand to help out someone in need!

I think some people also refer to that as an Hungarian but the Shaman is correct - as usual - and I think Oom Paul is the more traditional name.

Thanks @chris  In the meantime I have just been looking online and noticed that mysmokingshop is 30 minutes drive from me, what am I doing even sitting here!

@Gewie - Glad to be of help and a good question re mysmokingshop. I placed a small order with them earlier this year and their service was excellent and incredibly fast. If I lived close to them I would definitely pay them a visit. Do report back if you get to visit them in person.

@chris Just finishing a pipe here And I’m off to the shop  Edit: Grr picture didn’t work first time, sorted now.

@chris - Just leaving mysmokingshop now, what can I say great range really helpful staff well worth a visit  came away with a nice parker special and a couple of tobaccos to try along with a Tin of Viking blonde.

Basement and Chris are both correct. This is a full bent Hungarian in natural grain which are commonly refered to as Oom Pauls. This one pictured has fill at the back so dont pay to much if your looking at buying it.

It’s for sale at £15 at the moment with £8 shipping from US. But I just picked up this one from Mysmokingshop’s retail store

@Gewie - Parkers are good pipes at sensible prices so I hope you enjoy that and the tobaccos - which ones did you get? When I ordered from them a while back I completely forgot that they introduced the Viking snuffs otherwise I would have got a few tins - ah well I need to put in some snuff orders soon so I will make up for that then. Enjoy the pipe and the snuff.

@chris - Picked up a Black and Brown for myself, and got a gift for a colleague of Sam G’s Navy flake, I don’t know what he smokes but he smokes a pipe at least 3/4 times a day so the staff recommended a few flakes as they are the stronger stuff  although I will be itching to try it now.

Finishing off the day new pipe new tobacco: Lovely

Of all the pipe shapes I personally like the Oom Paul best. Something about how easy it is to hold in teeth without added stress. Just practically effortless. And I don’t mind the fact that the bowl is essentially closer to the nose than most other styles.

That’s why it draws me to it, just for me the iconic natural pipe shape.

That is more of a bent billiard shape rather than an Oom Paul ,Nice regardless

Yer you’re right, I can’t afford expensive though and that was one I liked in my range

You can get some high end estate pipes on e-bay that are like new for a couple of bucks. I started like that, and you can always can re-list them if they don’t suit your needs. I use rubber mouth bits on my pipes and sterilize used pipes with 100+ proof alcohol.

Sounds like a good idea, where do you get the mouth bits from?

@Gewie They have them available where you were the other day: http://www.mysmokingshop.co.uk/index2.php?mod=catviewind&idPrd=4238 I do tend to leave toothmarks on my pipes but I have never tried the rubber bits - some people like them - others don’t and I just prefer my pipes without them.
