Professor Phillips Griffiths

This guy probably kicked me off in taking snuff seriously. And i only just saw these two pictures yesterday: http://www.snuffbox.org.uk/gg2.htm I like the bow tie! Does anyone know what he is up to these days? Has anyone heard from him?

Yes, he’s a member here and you will often see posts by him. He posts as PhilipS

though he doesn’t seem to know much about snuff. I think he’s an imposter. Of course I’am not telling the truth.

Hmm, but i did a search to make sure i wasn’t double posting and this put me off the scent: http://snuffhouse.org/discussion/comment/59855/#Comment\_59855

Well it’s really good to see he’s around here. That’s really good to find out.

“Would the real, Professor Phillips Griffiths , please stand up”?

I thank the professor for his contributions to, and being a father like figure for, the rebirth of snuff in the 21st century! Ermtony definitely gets kudos for his site, too. Great contributions to the snuffing world.

Professor Griffiths and PhilipS are not the same person.

"Does anyone know what he is up to these days? Has anyone heard from him? " As far as I’m aware he is alive and well and still taking snuff.

"Yes, he’s a member here and you will often see posts by him. He posts as PhilipS " That erroneous claim has been made before. I do not have a beard: I do not wear a bow tie: I’m at least 20-25 years younger than Philips Griffiths, and I am not a professor. In short I am not he, but me.

@PhilipS, you should have added that you DO know a lot more about snuff than the professor. I was just pulling legs but… you ARE our professor of snuff for which I thank you.

@SleepWalker: That guy schooled me, too, about 4 or 5 years before I even had the opportunity to try snuff. He certainly piqued my interest; however, I am very glad to have snuffhouse and all the fine folk within.

@Sleepwalker - I have been wondering the same thing, and wondered too if PhilipS and the professor were one and the same. Glad that’s cleared up. That link about Bordeaux was really interesting. I have not read it before. Makes me think that those kind of little nuggets of snuff information, memory, history and speculation need to be written down somewhere more permanent than an online forum.

Prof. Griffiths is indeed alive and well, and contributed a short piece on Fribourg & Treyer in the first issue of our Ephemeris. He’s a very nice gentleman who has probably forgotten more than we’ll ever know on the subject of snuffing.

Brilliant news snuffpub, thank you.

"you ARE our professor of snuff for which I thank you. " Thanks returned. I shall now update my credentials to include POSHO (Professor of Snuff House Org) - an appellation I shall carry with pride.

@PhilipS: That is a splendid acronym!

Toffeenose is back! Good to see you.

@Mopey: Thanks for the welcome; it’s good to be back!
