The question came up a while ago about how do you work out if an old FandT can of snuff pre-dates the WoS purchase of the recipes. The lack of a health warning is not in itself a guarentee as this came in a couple of years after FandT went out of business. However, if you suspect a can is pre-WoS, look on the side - if it’s from the old Haymarket shop it will have the following in miniscule lettering ‘Telephone - 01-930-1306 - 3 Lines’. 01, of course, was the old London telephone prefix which was changed about 20 years ago as memory serves. This doesn’t discount the possibility of Wilsons using up old stocks of cans, but with the condition of the can and snuff factored in it can take you a step closer to dating it as original FandT.
