I came across a rarity while browsing the french second hand marketplace. It’s a snuff called Poudre Ordinaire. The reseller sent me two small 50g paper wrapped box. I find it very coarse – it seems to be from the 70s or 80s and it’s made by Seita . It’s very well preserved, even though I don’t detect much scent coming from the tobacco. The salt crystals were visible when first opened. I’m not sure what to do with it yet. I also discovered it was delivered to the Hospices of France during that period. It’s a bit history I found intriguing and wanted to share. I’ll link photos below.

I also discovered that another one existed called Poudre Supérieure, maybe I’ll find that one too.

Thank you for sharing the images! Indeed, surprisingly coarse for a “poudre”. It would be nice to see a better quality images of the snuff and the package - I can barely read the text on it.

Thank you for the tip I’m going to do a test below, as it seemed to me it wasn’t working on my phone.

After: once the pictures are selected nothing happens. It was my first idea but as I wasn’t seeing the pictures in preview I figured it wasn’t working, I hadn’t done a live test yet though.

After grinding, and inspecting the tobacco, I ascertained it was safe for me to try it. I must say i am delighted. I did not know tobacco could age so well to this extent. It is a dark roasted tobacco. It is finer than Santo Domingo at it’s harsh pure dark bite. No back drip. Perfectly well alkalined. It is strong. Stronger than Neffa Bledi or Ifrikia. The burn lasts a short while, then a tingle, then a hum. The tabacco flavor remains upfront and there are no overwhelming scents. I will seek more of this snuff tabacco as I have yet to experience something similar.

Ps. After leaving for a long while the drip is still light and unaggressive.
