Hi I went to the post office today to send off my snuff trade to the USA, and was asked what I was sending to fill in the customs declaration. When I said snuff, it took the post office ten minutes to decide if they would send it. Eventually they said that it was “probably” ok, but you would of thought I was sending anthrax or something! Just to clear things up, are we still ok sending snuff to the USA? Anyone else experienced this or did I have an over zealous post office worker?
Ive done it many times without any problem and sent some off yeterday. Ive always just used the words ‘Gift, snuff tin’ its always got there. Assuming you are in the UK they are obliged to get you to fill out that label. This isn’t covered by PACT so don’t worry on that score.
Non-Commercial shipments are still legal in the US. Not that Commerical shipments are being stopped.
steve- Just curious where you mailed it from? I think some places may be more restrictive than others.
tom - i mailed it from the uk a town centre post office.
Thanks. I think, if it’s unlikely to be opened and inspected, and there are no snuff dogs, then I would just call it something else, like collectable canisters.
‘Snuff tins’ is OK in Ireland but nobody gives a shit about goverment anyway.
